Pitcher Zach Stewart said his hair was once shoulder length, but biggest change was significant weight loss by trainer Herm Schneider.

Both Crain and Thornton talked to today about not wanting to talk too much about the closer competion. Just do their job and let ...

... Ventura, Cooper and org. make the final call.

Thornton, on the closer's role: I don’t care, either way. I’m going to help this team wins games." ...

"If I get a shot at being the closer, I would enjoy it and I’d like to have a chance I could do it.”

I think it always a good sign when the players decide they will show up and play another year. Maybe there is hope. After all hope springs eternal at spring training time

Floyd on Robin: He's a great fit for this team. Going to be a good encourager and he'll manage a game well. He's a class act.

All positive among 1st arrivals day before 1st pitchers-catchers workout. Floyd: With right chemistry and mindset we're capable of anything.

I'd like to see ST a bit shorter, and more concentrated like an NFL training camp. Good to hear quotes from players on site.

regardless of the expectations of this team, it's always exciting to read about players reporting.

No doubt about it. It's always a good thing when millionaires show up to play baseball.

What I read from this:

Humber is gaining arm strength. Needs to learn to conserve it.

Stewart is gonna be a starter in AAA.

Fill in the blank.

(WSCR) During one of The Score’s David Schuster’s updates from White Sox spring training today, general manager Kenny Williams decided to grab Schuster’s phone and weigh in on The Score.

Schuster was on The McNeil and Spiegel Show discussing prospective pitcher Dylan Axelrod when Williams stated his opinion on the 26-year-old right-hander.

“Dylan Axelrod is an outstanding young man and he can pitch,” Williams said. “He’s one of these good stories that you hear about coming through the Independent League and the getting an opportunity and making himself into a major league, so let’s all root for him. … I didn’t find him. He found us.”

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin

Kudos to White Sox head athletic trainer Herm Schneider, who clearly had the CWS best offseason conditioning results.

Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan

Nobody looks better than White Sox trainer Herm Schneider, who lost about 70 pounds over the offseason.

70 in an offseason? Less than 5 months? That is truly impressive.

I'd like to co-author this bill and get it signed into law.

That would be fantastic. I'd love to see him, Castro, & Santiago all in Charlotte's rotation to start the season. Have Axelrod be the long-man to start the season.

I'm happy for him. He seems like a really nice guy.

Stop overvaluing athleticism. Jared Mitchell, Keenyn Walker, now Herm Schneider. Enough- all of you.
