March 2, 201214 yr I liked Ray Durham a lot too. I was a huge Bo Jackson Fan. Loved that freak. Robin was someone I looked up to because I played 3b. Quentin was my favorite player the last few years. I admire his intensity. Frank is the reason I became a sox fan. He is my all time favorite to answer the question.
March 2, 201214 yr It takes more than ability to become a favorite, in fact, sometimes it may actually work against you. Granville Waiters was a huge Bull favorite during his stay because his entrance late in the game signaled the game was won, like a Red Auerbach cigar. With a couple minutes to play you heard the fans start chanting Gran-ville! Now look at Thomas, as one of the top players in the game while he was playing, how many endorsements did he have? Advertisers weren't beating down his door. You gotta have the charisma beyond the ability. Something else to make that crossover.

March 2, 201214 yr Frank is my favorite white sox. Griffey was my favorite player ever (did everything he did when I was little, play CF, hit lefty, emulated batting stance and finish, etc. only thing was throw left handed even though I tried like hell, but I was a natural righty) Griffey - favorite overall Thomas - favorite sox player ever Durham - #2 favorite Robin - #3 One Dog - #4 Buehrle - #5 And I always was a big fan of Ben Davis back in the day. I had a big following here of the Ben Davis fan club (me and aboz's Buehrle club were the biggest on this site) back in 2004. f***.. forgot Mr. Tony Graffanino as well. March 2, 201214 yr As a younger generation fan I have not had the privilege to watch some of the greats from the past years. That being said I really enjoy(ed) watching AJ, and Dye. Not necessarily the first 2 that come to mind immediately when I think Sox Baseball, but the ones that come to mind faster I never saw play. such as Ozzie and Ventura.
March 2, 201214 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Oh man, I can't believe I left Kitty off. I was obsessed with him for about two years until he fell off of the map. I still have the autographed pic with me and him we took in 1983 in Arlington TX. I got his autograph back when they were training in Sarasota. my favorite player as a kid.
