Any pitcher with good stuff, unless it's Verlander the last couple of years (and even then)...it's the journeymen, never seen before, soft-tossing lefties, that usually give us fits. Think of our relative success against Felix Hernadez, for example.

 

Any pitcher who is around the strike zone, we can handle.

 

It's those pitchers who are experts at getting batters to fish for pitches outside of the strike zone and get themselves out that drive our guys nuts.

From Elias: Adam Dunn went 1-for-4 with one RBI in the White Sox' victory at Seattle, but it was his first-inning strikeout that caught our attention. Dunn became the first player to strike out at least once in each of his team's first 15 games of a season since they began tracking strikeouts for individual batters in 1910. Dunn surpassed the mark of Howie Gross, who whiffed in each of Houston's first 14 games in 1963.

Verlander is scheduled for Friday vs NY. That means he'll go the following Wednesday, and the Sox will miss him again. And even further out than that, the Tigers rotation is setup where the Sox will miss him in the 2-game series in the middle of May. Could be 3 times max facing him this season.

This is true, it was just food for thought. Obviously facing Rick Porcello is much more agreeable than facing Verlander.

Most of that success was earlier in his career, not against this version of Verlander. Check out the year to year splits vs. the Sox. He is 10-1 in his last 11 starts against the Sox.

Jeff Manto has been working with the young infielder to help him drive the ball to right field. Defense has not been an issue, although Morel had a few rough games early on with the glove.

 

Why is he working on driving it to RF? Didn't he become productive once he finally stopped doing that last season?
