Man Reed don't f*** around...

Real nice bounceback night for Johnny. Also nice to see the slump of Rios snapped pretty early.

Reed is the f***ing closer. That is that.

Put Sale on the DL.

Nice to see I had to completely give up on Danks for him to pitch like he's getting paid the money he's getting paid...haha

Three games now this year that you can say Rios won for the Sox.

Good win tonight....Remember guys, good teams go through bad stretches(Angels and Tigers to name a few this year)...If the Cubans get goin this team will compete...Book it

BTW, congrats to Santiago on getting first career win

What we know after today:

Reed is a closer, Beckham is back?

If Rios can keep it going then were left with 1 and a half of a hole in the lineup: Looking at Morel and Viciedo.

I like how Reed keeps showing them and showing them. Are they watching? Has it become clear yet?

I think Rios needs to be looked at for what he is and that is a nice MLB outfielder with good skill set but not overwhelming in any phase of the game. If we take money out of the equation, he could be a nice piece.

I will say for third time in a matter of minutes, the bullpen decision making process is abysmal.

Nice win though.

Ramirez has been worse than Viciedo. Far and away, the biggest key for the offense is hoping that the two Cubans pick it up like their track record suggests they will. If your 7 and 8 hitters can do some damage, you can survive with Morel in the 9th spot.

Bottom third of the order was 0-19 with a walk today.

I mentioned this in the game thread at the beginning, but this was one of those games where you want to get maybe one more lefty into the lineup. Masterson is just a really tough match-up against righties, but it's good experience for Viciedo. He'll learn that against someone like Masterson, you don't have to try and hit 3 homers in that game and just accept a 1-3 with a single to right and a walk.

I think you mean 0/14 (including Fukudome).

Best closing prospect in baseball.

Our 6th/7th/8th starter closes (tries too).

Robin, stop it.

Tries "also/too" (Santiago) or tries to close but can't, lol?

I like Reed getting into these "easy" save opps starting his own inning with Sale being the main guy for now. We'll figure out the plan for the future when we get there. For now, Sale-Reed-Crain-Thornton-Jones is a nice top 5 in the bullpen.

Since Rios' demeanor is only mentioned when it's seemingly unenthused, I think it needs to be pointed out that he was really animated tonight. And lately also he has been visibly pissed off when it has gone poorly in the late moments of close games.

Rios really came through. Three hits including the game winning triple. And he has looked quite enthused this season. He was quite animated last night, and rightfully so.

I wasn't following the game thread, but was anyone else as pissed off at Viciedo as I was? He completely gave up on that pop up. There's no excuse for playing like that. That play and Ramirez's error led to that 3-run inning for the Indians.

I wasn't pissed, where it fell was probably outside his range. He pulled up rather than trying to make a play on it, which was probably the right move. He made the wrong move earlier in the game and was lucky it didn't turn into a triple because of it.

What I DID think was that a decent LF could get there, and wouldn't that be nice. I'd still rather have him play in LF than sit or DH though.

Yeah, that was a total reaction to his blown dive earlier in the game. I am guessing that when he got back to the bench they told him the most important thing was to not let the ball get past him.

I didn't see him making the wrong move earlier in the game, but I still think he gave up on that ball. It didn't have the trajectory where it would bounce past him and create a worse situation. It was a pop fly, and he stopped running and basically starting walking towards it as it fell. Most left fielders would have made that play, and I think he could have made the play if he had kept running towards it.
