I'm far from a saber guy and even I think Hawk sounded clueless.

Wins maybe the most worthless stat for a pitcher.

James Baldwin and Danny Wright say hi.

Or Jesse Crain, wasn't he like 10-0 his rookie season pitching in relief? Something like that...when a lot of the results were blown holds or blown leads that resulted in wins.

Nathan Jones, last year, etc.

Much like myself especially defensively, I don't understand how defense can be measured taking all things into consideration.

I love some of the new statistics and their evaluations, but you're absolutely right, defense is one of those factors that remains difficult to quantify. Even UZR is admittedly tenuous at best. And I suspect it will remain elusive.

But Hawk is full of s***. They've been using statistics since the game began to measure at the very least, the odds of one event occurring more than another.

Billy Koch had 11 wins in relief the year before the Sox got him. Beane must have kept his TWTW.

How long until our first TWTW commercial?

Someone simply has to ask Hawk why HE didn't have TWTW.

What is our tagline this year, by the way?

Do we have one?

And I just saw on twitter that they have TWTW on the CF score board right now.

Goddamnit why does it have to be embarrassing to be a White Sox fan?

Hawk's a national laughingstock now, so hey, let's get on his TWTW thing while it's hot!

I'm sure the guys are all fired up during BP, I guarantee a win tonight.

Now?

But in all seriousness, this org is just really hard to root for right now. Appealing to the lowest common denominator pisses me off.

Maybe he was known by casual fans for his catchphrases, but I don't think they all knew he was an idiot. Now they do.

I sincerely thought there was nothing that could possibly make me dislike Hawk more than I already do. Boy was I wrong.

What an absolute joke of a broadcaster.

So when the Sox miss the playoffs again this year their own announcer will basically be calling them out for not wanting it bad enough. Can this be a fireable offense?

Sigh.

Are we sure that the marketing department didn't "plant" this catch-phrase or at least suggest it to Harrelson?

It's fine if we have a good enough team.

It's incredibly dangerous if we finish 72-90.

Because right away, there will be numerous jokes about Adam Dunn "not having the will to win." Every time he K's, in fact.

If there are T-shirts, this was probably a set up from someone

Sigh.

At least our Sally League Champions (Augusta GreenJackets) made up a better t-shirt logo back in 1995.

"First Place is For Winners Who Refuse To Accept Defeat"

Double sigh.

When Hawk says players shouldnt think about #s, hes right. Our job to do that. Its evaluation tool not playing manual. I think he knows that

Oh God... That it's become a marketing campaign now... So so so so so bad.

This team is going to have to have a 2001 Oakland A's like comeback for this not to be such a laughable disaster for YEARS to come.

Hey, at least it will be easy to pick out the meatball fans walking around.

Not necessarily. They make T-shirts at 2 different spots (at least) at the park, so they could have done some there or even just had a rush order from a local place.
