He just hasn't got the job done, no excuses. When a big out is needed, he's been unable to get it. How about he miss a bat once in a big spot this year?

They should just put Thornton on the waiver wire and see if anyone will claim his salary.

 

I'm convinced that even if there was a runner at 1st or 2nd instead of 3rd, he still would have managed to choke the game away somehow.

Wouldn't that have been caught if the outfield had been playing up like they were supposed to? Why were they playing so deep? Neither one of them could have thrown Gwynn out on a fly ball that deep.

Wouldn't that have been caught if the outfield had been playing up like they were supposed to? Why were they playing so deep? Neither one of them could have thrown Gwynn out on a fly ball that deep.

 

The game winner was a hit no matter what. Playing Gwynn so deep to left is ridiculous though, as he couldn't homer to the opposite field if he was swinging from second base.
