The way the Angels are playing now, I think the A's are about to finally hit the wall.

4 game series starts Monday at Anaheim.

Then the A's come home for 3 against Baltimore, then hit the road: 3 at Tigers, 3 at Yankees, 4 at Rangers.

Now, with the new format, would the Rangers dump games on purpose to the A's trying their hardest to keep the Angels out of October?

Strategically, why wouldn't they? This is a potential issue for MLB.

Doubtful. As hot as Oakland can get, no way Texas dumps games like that. We aren't talking about Houston vs. Anahiem.

Stumbling/bumbling White Sox at 70.9%, more hapless Tigers at only 31.3%, but a lot will change this week, one way or the other. Or not.

A's did pass the Sox and are getting closer to being a sure thing, but with Balt, TB and the Angels all playing well, lots of excitement in the final weeks of the season.

This will be the second time in the past couple weeks that the Tigers enter a series with the White Sox coming off a 3-game sweep; they also were swept by the Royals Aug. 28-30 before sweeping the White Sox at Comerica Park.

I'm looking at the AL East race and thinking that the Yankees are the best matchup for the Sox in the ALDS. Am I crazy?

Depends a ton on the health of ARod and Tex. When 2-3 of the starting pitchers we're relying on are lefties, if those guys aren't 100%, their lineup loses a lot of its punch against lefties.

I know the White Sox have struggled against Buck over the years but I like the O's as the best Sox matchup.

TieDyers have 10 games away, 10 games home

WHITE SOX have 12 games away, 8 games home

1 head-to-head matchup

TieDyers have 3 games against playoff contender (A's)

WHITE SOX have 7 games against playoff conenders (Angels and Rays)

On paper, WHITE SOX have harder schedule. However, we are the WHITE SOX and we control our destiny. Win them all 20-0.

Angels- vs Tex, vs Sox, vs Sea, at Tex, at Sea

A's- at Det, at NY, at Tex, vs Sea, vs Tex

Very tough schedule for Oakland, but they made it this far. Orioles too...they're in good position, but I have a feeling the Angels aren't done. It would be great if the Yankees missed the playoffs in the first year of 2 wild cards.

82.3 + 21.6 = 103. 9?

That would be nice Hibbard.

We have to get over the Royals curse....and then survive the series out in LA, only lose 2/3 at worst, not getting swept.
