Seems like he has no coverage on that outside fastball right now. Not sure if it's due to him dropping his back shoulder a significant amount.

He got aced on that pitch. His back shoulder drop is more indicative of trying to go oppo.

Not one to tie it or put the Sox ahead, I don't believe. Hopefully he sits on the cutter here and lines it to right center.

We would have had this game easily had Humber just gotten the third out in a few innings.

I was really puzzled tonight. Humber had really good movement on his stuff and he just failed to close the inning way too much. Angels batters took some very good pitches, but still, this was one of the better pitched 6 run outings I'd seen. At the same time, it wasn't, way too much dinking for a guy who had really good movement on the cutter and who threw some good curves.

 

As a whole this was the best I've seen Humber look since he went on the DL (even though the results were poor). Still, at some point, the consistent poor production (2 out of his 4 starts since coming off the DL have been poor) is going to get him canned. I keep hoping he gets back to doing what he did last year (or even close) but who knows at this point.

Honestly, that was one of his better at bats. I just don't' get how he can swing and miss so many mediocre fastballs. Its pathetic.
