That's game :)

1.5 lead.

Myers was due for a stinker.

At least Myers didn't give up the lead like Thornton does.

Anyone else worried this is the beginning (last night) of the 7-game losing streak that will eventually knock us out?

Robin continues to be really, really dense when it comes to the pen.

He's making some awful decisions that's really hurting the Sox chance to win. Tonight is nothing compared to some of his recent decisions though.

Please plunk Francouer, game's over anyways.

No.

YOU DON'T LET BUTLER BEAT YOU.

In the long tradition of Sweeney, Callaspo, Aviles, etc.

Escobar and Butler have LITERALLY killed us.

And Ventura was stupid to keep taking chances with Pena because he hits 2X as well with RISP than Francouer does (sub .200 average).

Happens during the 2nd half of the season nearly every year it seems. When that does happen, it's hard to say the team deserved more. With that said, this team has surprised us for so long this year, so hopefully they break previous patterns. Why a lefty wasn't brought in for Gordon, I'll never know. His OPS is .250 pts higher against RHP this year.

I'll let these guys prove what they're made of.

Does Myers get credit for finishing this game?

Pythagorean is just a simplified method...but Ventura has to be terribly underperforming this year, especially due to his horrible bullpen management in the 2nd half of the season, when he already should have finished his "on the job training."

Someone will say he's doing great because we're STILL in first place, but that's not the whole story at this point. Or he's just being stubborn and obstinate.

YEAH, LET'S GUARANTEE MYERS' $10 million option for 2013 by having him finish EVERY GAME. :-)

What should he have done?

Bring in the lefty to face Alex Gordon (in order to try and get the big out BEFORE Butler bats).

Absolutely, by the "letter of law" (or contract).

We're what, 12-13 games away from it kicking in?

A lot closer than that. So stupid by Ventura there if it's actually an issue.

Escobar now hitting .352 in his career vs the Sox

4-7 against KC. Absolutely unacceptable.

JPINAA :)

Then you're burning Myers for 2/3 of an inning in a pen that is already overworked. Besides, if the lefty doesn't get Gordon out, he has to face Butler.

Well, that was a complete team loss, as the hitting/pitching/fielding/coaching sucked. Time for Q to step up big tomorrow.

We lost games where Chris Sale and Jake Peavy pitched? Thats bad alone, I don't care who the opponent even is.

You have an open base no matter what, and you walk Butler to get the L/L match-up against Moustakas.

Both those guys have struggled big time vs KC this year and in their career.

Garcia/Nova/Hughes at home gives me plenty of confidence that the Sox will win the series vs. NYY. They play fine against anyone not in KC jerseys
