September 27, 201213 yr Hey Jake, no pressure or anything, but this is basically a must win game. One ace-style performance would be great to save this season.
September 27, 201213 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) Sox legacy game for Peavy tonight. Prediction: Peavy is overcome by the moment and "Peavy's out" somewhere in the early innings giving up multiple HRs. Seriously, guys this is NOT the man you want on the mound in pressure games.
September 27, 201213 yr If Jake stinks again tonight, he enters free agency on a downer. I guess his agent can always blame it on too many innings pitched during his comeback season and that he's on track to have a stellar season next year. He ought to sign with Detroit to complete that staff.
September 27, 201213 yr Jakey Jakey I hope you don't make too many mistakeys! In fact- DOMINATE those damn Rays!
September 28, 201213 yr Well Jake did pitch like an ace tonite but unfortunately he's not going to have a damn thing to show for it.
September 28, 201213 yr As one of Peavy's biggest critics on here, if this was his last start with the Sox, I'm very happy that he went out on a positive note. Thanks for a stellar 2012.
September 28, 201213 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 03:41 AM) Good luck with the Dodgers next year.
September 28, 201213 yr Dodgers is probably the better guess for next year. Not a bad year for Peavy... 31 starts 22 quality starts, which is very good 15-16 when he started 14-8 when he had a quality start. Should have been better. 1-8 when he didn't have a QS. No luck. September 28, 201213 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:42 PM) As one of Peavy's biggest critics on here, if this was his last start with the Sox, I'm very happy that he went out on a positive note. Thanks for a stellar 2012. As the guy who started this thread, I will give him big props for this start, he brought it. He had a hell of a year, but unfortunately I will have a hard time forgetting his disappearance vs. Detroit this season. Good luck Jake.
September 28, 201213 yr I'd give him a grade of B for the season. I don't think that's too harsh. Maybe even a B-plus. Sox are going to miss his innings, no doubt about it.
October 13, 201213 yr On successive nights Verlander and Sabathia showed how a true ace pitches when it really counts.
October 13, 201213 yr QUOTE (SI1020 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) On successive nights Verlander and Sabathia showed how a true ace pitches when it really counts. And Cain. Looking like Gio will get the win over former ace Wainright as well, although Gio was far from dominant tonight.
October 13, 201213 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) And Cain. Looking like Gio will get the win over former ace Wainright as well, although Gio was far from dominant tonight. Didn't Cain only go like 5 innings?

October 25, 201213 yr QUOTE (SI1020 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) On successive nights Verlander and Sabathia showed how a true ace pitches when it really counts. How is ace Verlander doing in the big game? Oh wait it's against a NL west team, let's dismiss any success associated with them. Edited October 25, 201213 yr by kapzk
October 27, 201213 yr QUOTE (kapzk @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 07:31 PM) How is ace Verlander doing in the big game? Oh wait it's against a NL west team, let's dismiss any success associated with them. Better than anyone on the Sox sitting at home right now.
