CHICAGO -- When you are as thin as Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale, you take 15 extra pounds any way you can get them.

So while working with a personal trainer five days a week has been beneficial, he has tried other avenues as well.

“I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I do have a soft spot for some Taco Bell and Five Guys,” Sale sheepishly admitted. “I guess those are my cheat stations.”

Sale is hoping that some bulk on a frame that was listed at 6-foot-6, 180-pounds last season will help him get through the rigors of a long season. His 4.11 ERA in September was his highest of any month last season, as was his 1.457 WHIP.

15 lbs of raging rippling muscles I bet

I dont think his body allows fat. Muscle, blood, skin, tendon, bone. Everything else, passes right through

I wish I was getting paid to gain 15 pounds by eating Taco Bell & Five Guys. That would be the life.

Hooray! An article about a player's weight! Spring training must be approaching

Ha exactly.

Pretty soon Chris is going to look like Bartolo Colon!

This is actually the 2nd most exciting development of this offseason. I'm pumped.

This is the time of the year when we get all the fluff articles...I have a feeling he will look just like he did last year, just like Bobby Jenks used to look the same after he lost 30 pounds every offseason.

Chris Sale was all hips, ribs, and spine... but that ball fires out like it's a cannon somehow.

Terribly irresponsible comment from Sale. He obviously doesn't read the Healthy Eating Thread.

When i think of Chris Sale, I think slingshot...and not the Bart Simpson kind, the David & Goliath kind

welll at least ONE SIDE of him anyway. If you fold Colon in half length-wise......that will give you one Chris Sale

AND still have some change leftover

I believe Sale will win the Cy Young this season

Amazingly, all 15 pounds he added were in his loins.

Hopefully he doesn't lose any velocity ala Chris Beck.

I remember B-Mac gained weight to help with the long season too.

Chris could gain 40 lbs and I don't think he'd look much different haha

Yes, the return of the weight articles!

So this makes him what, now...79lbs wet?

I know this is a joke, but just for infos sake on the Score they said he's at 181 now.

At 6'6.

Interestingly (or not), that puts him in the "normal" range on the BMI chart. I'm sure that chart is not calibrated for athletes, though.

I am 5'10 and 181. I do not consider myself fat. I am not the bone thin kid I once was (5'10, 135), but that is ridiculous.

He'll be 24 when the season starts, and I bet he's closer to 200 next year too. He's still going to be razor thin, but he'll continue to add weight as he ages.
