February 8, 201313 yr Nothing to create any buzz (Lars Anderson signing excluded) since message boards came about
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) Nothing to create any buzz (Lars Anderson signing excluded) since message boards came about Last year's offseason was boring. Buehrle left, traded Quentin for a bust.......no buzz at all.
February 8, 201313 yr Since the Sox usually don't sign other teams' major free agents (Dunn was the first free agent from another team they signed for more than $20 million since Albert Belle) trades or minor free agent signings are their buzz. Most of their major trades seem to occur in season. Really, big offseason buzz is not very common with the White Sox. Edited February 8, 201313 yr by Dick Allen
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) Nothing to create any buzz (Lars Anderson signing excluded) since message boards came about Yeah, I was going to ask people about their history lessons, but it was last freaking year.
February 8, 201313 yr Gonna go back into the memory banks for this one: '11-'12 offseason Edited February 8, 201313 yr by Jose Paniagua
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Life under Hahn More like life post-Williams. Bad farm system. No money to play with.
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) 2004. The biggest move the Sox made was trading Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe. in hindsight that move was brilliant
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (Special K @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) in hindsight that move was brilliant And gave one of the most epic trade meltdowns in Soxtalk history.
February 8, 201313 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) And gave one of the most epic trade meltdowns in Soxtalk history. Because Aaron Miles was God's gift to baseball. Pretty sure I was probably pissed about it too.
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 03:47 PM) Yeah, I was going to ask people about their history lessons, but it was last freaking year. At least last year we hired a new manager...there was some excitement about that...
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 12:20 AM) At least last year we hired a new manager...there was some excitement about that... What was the general reaction to Robin's appointment like on here?
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) What was the general reaction to Robin's appointment like on here? Originally, pretty much WTF?
February 9, 201313 yr 2013- Signed Keppinger, Re-signed Peavy, Took Floyds option. (No major trades). Yea it has been pretty dull. However, the pitching youth gives me hope. My biggest concerns are Flowers every day and the lack of left handed offensive production. I am pretty excited to see if Viciedo continues to improve with his bat and to see if Keppingers higher OBP can help balance the lineup out.
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 12:37 AM) Originally, pretty much WTF? I'm not shocked to hear that.
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Originally, pretty much WTF? I was driving in the car with sports radio on when they made the announcement, I had to double check if it was April Fools Day. It was so out of nowhere, definitely a major WTF.
February 9, 201313 yr Oh I LOST it for the Robin hiring. Haha... I'm glad now, and last year was great (cept that last part) but it still seems Robin isn't 100% committed haha, and i'll always kinda think that.
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) Oh I LOST it for the Robin hiring. Haha... I'm glad now, and last year was great (cept that last part) but it still seems Robin isn't 100% committed haha, and i'll always kinda think that. What makes you think he isn't 100% committed?
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) traded Quentin for a bust....... We did?
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) We did? Castro was definitely a bust when we acquired him. Former top prospect who got crushed when he reached AAa.
February 9, 201313 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) Castro was definitely a bust when we acquired him. Former top prospect who got crushed when he reached AAa. I misinterpreted it, if that's what he meant.
