Fantasy football advice thread

Going back to my original post. After doing a draft it almost seems like I should be keeping Rice even if I dont want to. Basically now I have to decide before midnight tonight. I have to decide between Martin, Dez, Ridley or Martin, Rice, Julio. Any last minute thoughts?

Love the Darryl Richardson pick and absolutely love Kap. I think you're going to see some pretty huge regression from Morris and Andre though this year. Obviously that's just my opinion and I could be completely wrong.

AJ maybe, but Morris is a Shanahan back and those are strong known quantities IMO. The picks I like best are Tillman, Sherman, and McCourty, those were the three highest rated DBs I had (McCourty due to his return duties) and I landed all three. And Posluszny.

Ya I stayed away from commenting on your defensive players cause I know nothing when it comes to IDP's in fantasy ha.

haha not that complicated really, I'm not an expert myself. Having a lot of solo tackles = good, interceptions = good, forced fumbles = good, sacks = wonderful.

 

Tillman a few years ago used to be a sleeper because everyone wasn't onto the fact that his forced fumbles would put him up at the top of the turnovers list with the interceptions leaders, but he's not a secret anymore so people take him as the 1st or 2nd DB on the board.

I've always wanted to add a couple teams to my league but it always gets shot down. I think 12 is perfect but my league has been 10 for 8 years now, I still love it.

Keeper league so Marshawn was already on my team as a 6th rounder. I got Forte with the 9th overall which I was very happy with.

It was 10. This is how the picks went. I was pissed because Romo went like 2 rounds after I took Stafford and I would have preferred him but I didnt even know he was still available because of the way yahoo ranks players.

Pretty strong team, no? I just need help figuring out a WR2. Johnson was a somewhat early pick for me there, but that was before his QB situation. Now I don't know what to do.

 

The Bills are trying to get Manuel into game shape for week 1, and if he's healthy, he's going to play. Still, I think that's going to be a very, very run heavy offense and Johnson is going to be working primarily out of the slot. Given, it's a west coast offense, and he's still (one of) the best route runner(s) in the NFL. 70/1000 wouldn't surprise me again out of him, but I think they're going to look to spread it around too. They have a bit of depth at receiver this year.

 

Maybe try and trade Morris for a good WR2. He's a good fantasy back but loses value in PPR's, and you have a lot of depth amongst your RBs. I think on a week to week basis you can get by with Gore/Bernard as RB2's, and Mendenhall and Williams work as filler in the event of byes or injury.

I remember we had a thread like this last season that a lot of people used. I need some keeper advice. This league has weird rules. You can keep up to 3 players, one is your "franchise" player and can play any position and be any age. The other two have to be going into their 2nd or 3rd seasons (Cam Newtons draft class). If you keep just one player you lose your 2nd round pick, if you keep 2 you lose your 2nd and 12th, and if you keep all 3 you lose your 2nd, 12th and 15th. This league is NOT PPR and its 12 teams.

 

For my 2nd and 3rd year guys I have:

Doug Martin, Julio Jones, Stevan Ridley and Colin Kaepernick

 

For my franchise player options I have:

Ray Rice, Dez Bryant

 

 

I will obviously be keeping Martin. For my other 2nd/3rd year guy Im leaning towards Ridley but I think both of the other guys arent bad choices. For my franchise player I have no idea who to pick. Rice seems to be the easy choice but I could potentially have Martin and Ridley already at RB and since this league is a non ppr Bryant actually outscored Rice last season. Kaepernick seems like a stretch but as my 3rd keeper Id only lose a 15th round pick and would have a QB locked up and not have to worry about drafting one because based on these keeper rules Id imagine Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, RG3, Luck, Stafford, Ryan etc will already be gone.

 

I'd keep Kaepernick(I'd hesitate a little only because he's a 2nd year QB) Jones and Rice. That way you have a dominant QB, WR and RB as a base. Dez is still way too inconsistent to me. Ridley is a NE RB. Take it from me, who had him last year, he'll look great for a few weeks span, and then he won't get touches and probably will be dropped in the depth chart. It's happened with every NE RB I've had since 2008.

Well, I might as well paste my roster from the big live draft I had over the weekend. Note - drinking beers and inputting rosters after a live draft is fun and not at the same time.

 

I picked 10th in a 12 teamer. All TDs worth 6. 1 bonus point every 100 yards for rushing/receiving and every 100 yards past 300 for passing.

Just a mini question, why are people going RB first? The only RB worthwhile is Adrian Peterson when he's healthy. In normal scoring leagues, especially ESPN ones, the QB is always the better pick since RBs these days work as tandems for the most part and they are so inconsistent year to year. AP has been the only one who if healthy, is a top 5 RB every year. The rest fluctuate wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much.

 

Also as draft strategies, I also suggest picking QBs who are in tough divisions as they won't be resting come playoff time for you. Matt Ryan, Drew Brees > Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning.
