December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) Kinda figured it was true. Hahn was on ESPN radio yesterday, and said the Belisario deal was probably getting completed "in the next day or so". He didn't mention him by name. Anyway, once Belisario and Downs are on the 40-man, somebody has to be dumped to make room. Candidates--Heath, Morel, Nestor Molina, Santos Rodriguez? Heath seems the likeliest to go.
December 19, 201312 yr looks like Rotoworld is reporting there's a deal in the works http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/2999/scott-downs if so, Hahn resolves the other lefty out of the pen. wow.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) Heath seems the likeliest to go. He definitely does. Isn't McDade still on the roster too for some reason?
December 19, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:53 AM) He definitely does. Isn't McDade still on the roster too for some reason? No. McDade and Tekotte were outrighted to Charlotte a couple weeks ago.
December 19, 201312 yr Author Rosenthal: Source: Downs’ deal with #WhiteSox will be one year, $4M range with vesting option that could bring deal to about two years/$8M. Option with #WhiteSox will vest if Downs pitches to his normal workload, per source. Deal pending physical. @jonmorosi first reported close. Edited December 19, 201312 yr by flavum

December 19, 201312 yr We're aimed at the future with an eye towards being digestible, not-vomitous-bad in the present
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) I'd like to vote for Morel please. I believe he is out of options, so he'll likely be gone by the time the season starts anyways. As of right now, he makes sense to stick simply due to the fact that he is younger.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) We're aimed at the future with an eye towards being digestible, not-vomitous-bad in the present And Scott Downs and Matt Lindstrom are both guys that can be dealt at the trade deadline to a contending team.
December 19, 201312 yr I believe he is out of options, so he'll likely be gone by the time the season starts anyways. As of right now, he makes sense to stick simply due to the fact that he is younger. I see what your saying, but there's always the chance of Veal turning it around and being useful, even if it is a remote chance. OTOH, Morel will never be useful for anything...
December 19, 201312 yr Nothing to complain about with this deal at all. Love the salary and especially the 64% ground ball rate. Another good deal by Hahn.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) Good stuff. Bullpen looking better now Still think there is another move coming.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:24 AM) Still think there is another move coming. Like at some point today? Or just in the near future? Thanks for the info. I kind of assumed there may be a few more moves in general.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Bullpen or positional player? Gotta be catcher.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) I see what your saying, but there's always the chance of Veal turning it around and being useful, even if it is a remote chance. OTOH, Morel will never be useful for anything... I have no idea why you brought up Donnie Veal, but while I agree that there is virtually no chance that Brent Morel turns into anything useful, I think he has a better chance than Duente Heath does.
December 19, 201312 yr Bullpen might not even skip a beat without Reed. Jones-Downs-Belisario-Lindstrom-Veal are probably all locks. I can see Webb and Petrika battle for a spot, and Rienzo and Paulino battle for the 5th spot with the loser getting mop up duties. Gotta love the fact that between Downs, Belisario and Lindstrom they pitched 172 innings while allowing a combined 6 HRs....Addison Reed gave up 6 by himself in 71.
December 19, 201312 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 11:24 AM) Still think there is another move coming. Are you implying another bullpen move? I don't doubt it. I think we need at least one more bullpen arm
