1.) The Sox should not wait for Johnson to develop because of Sale's health.

2.) If Johnson does develop this year Q can be used to fill other holes.

What holes are you talking about? Right now, we have the following position player depth:

 

1B: Abreu

2B: Semien/M. Johnson

SS: Ramirez/Semien

3B: Gillaspie/Davidson

LF: Tank/Thompson

CF: Eaton/Thompson

RF: Garcia/Thompson

DH: ??/Tank

C: ??

 

So realistically we two major holes in DH and C. We should be able to fill the first one in free agency. I see no reason why we couldn't move prospects for a C. Again, trading a starter makes no sense for us.

I liked the signing he was dam good with the Angels. He has never been this bad.

The signing made complete sense regardless of how Downs does. Are you implying it was a bad move?

The guy was like the Adam Dunn of LOOGYs, consistency-wise.

It was a good move, but it's just shocking how so many of the acquisitions this offseason are playing poorly. Thankfully the two most important, Abreu and Eaton, are performing well. Matt Davidson better get things turned around soon, as his batting average seems to drop by 15 points every game.

I have always wondered why some call pitchers who cannot get anyone out depth.

 

I'm pretty sure Leury has better stuff than most of the minor league AAAA pitchers we'll see up here the rest of the year.
