Well with Winston-Salem's defense and Danish's pitch-to-contact game, it was not hard to foresee some possible struggles. Danish is a guy who would benefit tremendously (more than others because of his ground-ball rate) from a ML-caliber defense.

Danks is hot. Average up to .222, which is an accomplishment.

That Winston-Salem game better re-start.

There's really no question that Anderson is our #2 prospect after Rodon and by quite a bit of margin. Both guys should finish in the top 50 prospects at a minimum and both have top 10 overall potential (probably not this year, but possibly after 2015).

 

The overall system is still pretty week, but the top 10 to 15 guys make up a pretty good group of prospects and eventually the Latin American signings will start having a presence over here. System is definitely on the up-swing but it still has ways to go until becomes top 10 worthy.

 

I'd say that's debatable, Micah Johnson looks like he could be a stud if he finds a home defensively. Anderson might be ahead of him but I wouldn't say the margin is that big.

IMO either he or Semien should be at SS everyday....Unless they have no plans to move Lexi anytime soon.

 

Micah, as far as I know, can't/isn't going to be playing SS, so unless they plan on moving him to the OF he should be at 2B everyday.

 

With Semien getting some time in the OF they should just go all out and stick him there until he proves he's not passable there. So I'd go Semien LF Sanchez SS Johnson 2B with Saladino rotating between 3B/SS/2B/OF/DH.

Guys like Rodon, Anderson and Hawkins/Adams (even without him throwing a single pitch yet) for me are without a doubt our top 3-4. But I've always viewed potential higher for years on this board, sans the occasional few (or "favorites" of mine if you will). I don't blame others though at looking at the production/floor players (likely big leaguers) though. You don't find many Evan Longoria/Buster Posey types that are pretty much both from the start.

Montas is getting close to a name you have to include as well...obviously, it's based more on potential and this year's results rather than the past, but he's starting to draw a lot of attention.

 

That type of player will always be more interesting to follow, rather than a "solid"/gritty player like a Saladino, Andy Gonzalez, Aaron Miles, CJ Retherford, etc.

 

A lot of the posters who see these players play in the minors quite a bit and meet them personally tend to be influenced by that as well, it's human nature. We tend to root extra hard for someone we like (say, Joe Borchard) compared to someone who acts like a jerk (Jon Rauch, although he was cool when we met him in spring training around 2001 when he was one of the top prospects in baseball).

Maybe I've been listening to Hawk to much, but I really think Micah will be an impact player.

 

I will say that I just checked out Andersons stats and I may be "sleeping" on him a bit. Guess I'm just going off "buzz" and it seemed like Micah had been getting more around here. Both are highly intriguing.

 

 

Micah gets more buzz for his speed. Anderson has more pop in his bat though and also has speed..

 

I am equally excited by both but probably Micah more because of that speed and he is also closest to the majors

Anderson needs to stay at SS as long as possible. We knew we'd get a big error number from him when we drafted him. He has a ton of talent to be a great SS defender. While there are plenty of examples of guys who made lots of errors in the low minors and never could defend, many of the good ones worked through periods like this when they were young

Velocity of his fastball falls way down as his pitch count goes up. Drops to 86-90 mph after 50+ pitches.

From a talent aspect, I do not believe this is close at all. Anderson's ceiling is absolutely ridiculously high.
