Tyler Flowers isn't very good

Featured Replies

Two questions:

1. I believe Flowers has 18 Ks in his last 21 at bats. Is that a record? Has to be.

2. I know Nieto has to stay up the entire season or Washington has the option to take him back.

But ... can the Sox send him to the minors next season so he can play every day and develop?

yea, my nephew is the bat boy, says hes probably the hardest working player on the team, does tons of hitting in the cage and great guy. hes awful though lol

If he's that great a guy might as well keep him. I really don't think this team is going anywhere so might as well let a stellar guy make some money.

So...buy super low on Grandal?

Well he is Cuban lol

Time to look in a different direction. Flowers had his opportunity. I'm ok with him sticking around as a backup, but the dudes plate discipline is bad.

Yes. I suggested this a couple of weeks ago. I would absolutely buy-low on Grandal. It would be buying really low right now haha.

I posted this in the other Flowers thread, too.

Maybe the Sox could try to acquire Giants prospect Andrew Susac. He is stuck behind Posey and pretty much ML-ready right now. The Giants do not have a real MLB second baseman. Their starter most of the year is batting (Hicks) is batting .177 though with 8 HRs but also has an insane 32% K-rate. So a swap of Beckham for Susac would benefit both teams. Plus, the Giants do not have a top prospect at second base.

Susac is athletic, which helps him behind the plate as a receiver, and he has an above-average arm. He has at least average defensive tools and has improved his game calling as a professional.

Offensively, Susac's best tool is his plus power, which allows him to drive the ball to all fields. He has good pitch recognition skills and has consistently posted good on-base percentages. Susac looks like a future Major League starter behind the plate.

MLB.com's prospect report on him. Granted, it's the Pacific Coast League, but he is batting .288, .388 OPB and an .892 OPS.

There have been rumors Posey isn't going to be catching much longer.

Then we could trade for Brandon Belt.

Hey what ever happened to Chase Blackwood?

His last year in pro ball looks to be 2010.

Aww man. His woman was pretty cool. She posted all of the time.

Tyler Flowers has a BA of .250 with a BABIP of 410. That is insane. If he wasn't having an historically lucky season with balls finding holes, he'd be batting around 180.

2014 is quite a bit about finding what the Sox have and what they don't. In case there was ever any question, the Sox do not currently have a starting caliber MLB catcher. That's a bummer, but at least for now it's certain.
