2015 MLB Draft

I'm the complete opposite. Sox could have (assuming Shark signs extension) 4 starters with at least 5 years of control.

Ones could stay the 5th starter while one of them develop for a year or two.

with no intentions of being rude, but lets deal with certiancy, not what if or could be. Jeff S signing is not for this discussion.

Personally I think the sox go Collegiate pitcher, and I'm very confident in whomever they select at 8.

i am in total agreement. we as fans are the amateurs who really enjoy this part of the big entity called baseball. the pro's will have so much resource available and at their disposal to help make their choice easier.

but at this yrs draft.... i just not sure if pitcher is the way to go. its is a long season to rethink the selection.

Debate what though? You should always go BPA in the baseball draft. In the first round specifically, you should never worry about a position.

Unless it was someone like Alex Jackson and you believed he could stick at catcher....Schwarber, etc., where you sacrifice a few positions in the draft to go underslot because of the compelling organizational need at that position.

Just saying "Flowers/Sota/Brantly/Kottaras/Nieto/K.Smith" doesn't mean there's a single long-term answer there. MAYBE Nieto.

excellent..... thanks and that is the point.

Yeah that's awful.

I know it's early in the season, but I would have a hard time picking a high school kid top ten overall when he is batting under .300 on the season. I was no-bat, all-glove high school baseball player and even I hit around his current average.

As a draft follower, I generally prefer college pitchers to anything else and then college players overall as opposed to high school players (maybe I am jaded since all the high school players the Sox take bust), but man, if Aiken is there when the Sox pick, I would really think about that. To think you could get two Ace-left-handed starters in back-to-back drafts would be a great result.

Plus, the Sox would have immense leverage over Aiken in terms of money. You probably could get him at slot, as I highly doubt he would risk not signing AGAIN.

you bring up a good topic for discussion. hs'ers vs college players.

for me, i like the college rt, just b/c they are closer to the majors, and a better risk in factoring the potential of reaching their projected potential. hs'ers have a little more time in the developmental stage where they might stumble.

but on the special cases where they is a great talent, for example a Brendan Rodgers - ss, hs. you have to roll the dice and get him. he may be that special player that defies the odds.

at where the sox are picking at #8, there is some players that are going to fall. i like to see how things develops.

on a side note, if you are a draft follower like some of us here, i wish you would post more of your opinions. i would love to read then plus get another perspective on this yr draft.

i been reading up on some prospect for the draft, i am starting to see another name being mention in a positive way. i not going to say it has been a lot, but his name is being mention.

To those concerned about his frame, Kyle Tucker is now at 190lbs, he's still at 6'4. Similar body to a young Kris Bryant and my god... does he swing like Ted Williams.

Plant HS Kyle Tucker 3/7/2015:

the pro's are saying, if i remember correctly, a ted williams, ken griffey jr and i can't think of the 3 player, kind of swing.

170 lbs to 190 lbs.... a lot of natural weight gain for a hs'er, and i am sure a lot of it is also muscles.

i had some ideas of who i wanted, taking in consideration that if it was college rt, that player maybe ready in a

1 1/2 yrs. but now.... maybe taking into consideration, what may happen to the parent club. i may have to revisit the BPA and look at Aikens.

That is my favorite video of his. Wood bat and he just crushes the ball to center.

Ryan Sweeney?

I'm joking.

Not 100% sure about the Splendid Splinter (hopefully not his personality, either), but a very picturesque swing for a high school kid.

Nice frame and projectability.

he gain 15-20 this yr..... he needed it, but i wonder if he is hitting the ball harder. i am sure, he is still louse and his swing is fluid. but i am envisioning Bryce Harper power.... ok, maybe not. i am getting too excited.
