July 21, 201411 yr Title says it all...anyone interested in bringing him back? On a minor league deal with no guarantee of a 40 spot? Sure.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (Brentmd2 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) Title says it all...anyone interested in bringing him back? Not unless he clears waivers and gets released. He is getting paid $3.75m this year, plus still has $750k in a buyout coming after this season.
July 21, 201411 yr Interesting to see here, his velocity is down since leaving Chicago, and he is throwing his slider a lot more than he ever did with us. He apparently dropped his two seam fastball totally. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) Not unless he clears waivers and gets released. He is getting paid $3.75m this year, plus still has $750k in a buyout coming after this season. Great post! Yes by all means bring him back if he gets released. He might be destined to be successful for the White Sox and the Sox only.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) Great post! Yes by all means bring him back if he gets released. He might be destined to be successful for the White Sox and the Sox only. That there Mr Cooper can fix him! But, in all seriousness once he clear waivers, if that happens, he might still have something to offer and he wasn't bad when with the Sox
July 21, 201411 yr Toronto may never trade directly for a Chicago pitcher again. Maybe after he's played somewhere else like Mark.
July 21, 201411 yr I'm actually cool with all the RH relievers we have...esp. once Lindstrom and Jones come back.....On a minor league deal though? sure.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) Toronto may never trade directly for a Chicago pitcher again. Maybe after he's played somewhere else like Mark. If it makes them feel any better it's not like we've received back great value, either.
July 21, 201411 yr Author QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 02:42 PM) D'dFA* Did you try to correct me...incorrectly? Lol I got it right bud don't you worry.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (Brentmd2 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Did you try to correct me...incorrectly? Lol I got it right bud don't you worry. You're both correct. DFA is "designate for assignment," so it would technically be "D'dFA," however, that would also make RBI - which is run batted in - made plural by RsBI, which looks really silly. DFA'd is widely more accepted.

July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) If he clears waivers, hell yes. Our bullpen is crap and I love me some Sergio. Who's he better than right now? Maybe Taylor Thompson but we just don't know that yet.
July 21, 201411 yr I'd do Santos and Deck McGuire for Beckham at this point if Santos wasn't owed $6 million next year. Yikes.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) I'd do Santos and Deck McGuire for Beckham at this point if Santos wasn't owed $6 million next year. Yikes. Santos has a $750k buyout option for each of the next three years. Needless to say he isn't getting paid $6 million next year.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) Who's he better than right now? Maybe Taylor Thompson but we just don't know that yet. If Sergio had spent the season in Charlotte, I don't think his record would be as good as Thompson's. Of that, I am 99.9999% certain. By the way, who mgave that contract to Sergio, Kenny or Toronto?

By the way, who mgave that contract to Sergio, Kenny or Toronto? KW, and it felt like a bargain at the time, thus making the trade seem even more one-sided in their favor.
July 21, 201411 yr QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) KW, and it felt like a bargain at the time, thus making the trade seem even more one-sided in their favor. Really with the options years built in the way that they were, it was great contract. Santos stood to lose way more than the Sox if he had pitched like a real closer.
July 22, 201411 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) Really with the options years built in the way that they were, it was great contract. Santos stood to lose way more than the Sox if he had pitched like a real closer. And he's a perfect example of why ballplayers sign those contracts, because he walks away with a ton more than he would have without signing it.
