August 14, 201411 yr Anyone know how these teams are formed in terms of boundaries? I taught one of these JRW kids and he lived in South Holland. Is it like a travel team where kids are from all over the area or is this strictly a Chicago team?
August 15, 201411 yr Author Chicago team dominated today.. I hope Jones and Greene (SS) keep playing baseball and one day are good enough to be drafted but the chances are unlikely
August 15, 201411 yr QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 11:55 PM) It really takes the coaches and parents getting a little crafty. So they're ready for high school and college than.
August 15, 201411 yr Author QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 11:55 PM) Things get pretty sketchy with LLWS. Jackie Robinson is from Morgan Park and I am sure the majority of the team is from MoPo, but once they saw the talent was there, they probably started plucking other city's best players like the kid from South Holland. They don't really regulate it at all. If you all remember years back there was an Illinois team from Lemont that made it to the LLWS. That team was actually the Homer Heat. They started pulling in kid's cousins and kids from surrounding cities. They entered a qualifier as Homer (the city they were from) and got bounced out so they reentered as Lemont and eventually made it. It really takes the coaches and parents getting a little crafty. I have heard announcers say some of the teams are All-stars from the leagues they are in. So they take the best players from their league to go into the tournament. August 20, 201411 yr Author Up 3-0 into the bottom of the 2nd.. They have some slick defenders on their team.
August 20, 201411 yr They're fun to watch. That closer, Marquis Jackson, is damn good. Between regionals and the LLWS, he's thrown 7 2/3 IP with 1 ER, 1 BB and 20 K. Yes, 20 strikeouts in 23 outs.
