Actually, having two good 1B on the roster, the only way Viciedo would have to play first is if either Abreu or LaRoche missed any significant amount of time.

I just think the Sox will want to give Davidson a few months in AAA no matter what. Matt has fully admitted his confidence was pretty much shot last year, so throwing him into the major league fire from the get-go next year seems like a recipe for disaster IMO. I'll be honest, I'm pretty low on Davidson at the moment, but I'd rather see him regain his confidence and show some actual results before I give him a major league role. Spring training simply isn't enough for me.

If true, then that's Davidson's fault since the Sox never said otherwise. Hopefully Davidson will see the setback as an opportunity to mentally grow and move on from 2014.

I'm trying to look at it as Davidson hit a wall and now its time for him to get back up, dust himself off and get back it. One bad minor league season for a 23 yo does not mean the end of the world, just more work needs to be done is all. Hopefully he sees 2014 as motivation for 2015.

Barring a ST injury to Gillaspie I think Davidson starts at Charlotte no matter what. If Davidson hits well at Charlotte and Gillaspie struggles, things become very interesting.
