If Rose returns in 4 weeks, he could play in 9 regular-season games. If he returns in 6, he could play in the final 3.

But was it just removed like Wade or trimmed like Westbrook?

Dr Cole removed it, spat on it, and then put it back in

Exciting. Lets hope this recovery time holds true. You'd hope Forman was relatively conservative in that estimate too. I think it would be so important for Rose to get back on the court and contribute this year. I think it goes a long way in him reaching another level next year.

Now, the Bulls have to do their part and try to hold seed so we can get a favorable match-up in the first round while Rose is still rounding back into shape. Timing of this injury is what really makes it brutal. A month earlier and it really wouldn't have been a big deal as there would have been ample time for Rose to wear off any additional rust from missing the 4-6 weeks.

Got it taken out just like Westbrook did.

He'll have arthritis in that knee when he gets older/when his career is done now, but if he's cool with that when he's taking his son to graduation, he should be more than fine for the short term.

Did Westbrook have his taken out? I always thought he had his snipped.

FWIW ESPN is reporting Rose had his meniscus "repaired".

Is it ESPN's corporate goal to misreport and make it more confusing for the people interested in this story? They have been inaccurate throughout the whole process.

From what it sounds like, they did not rip out the whole thing, they just removed the affected region.

That knee should have much more explosion now. He should be fine in his prime years, similar to DWade.

I am still upset at them for misreporting the Samardzija trade.

I am almost certain that they will change the report in the next hour. If it's actual "repairing", the recovery time would be a lot longer. He probably had parts of it removed, but not the whole thing.

4-6 weeks to 100%

110% will be next season.

Ok, that's kinda cool. Whatever. GEt back on the court, Rose.

I wonder if the Bulls publishing this timeline is a shot at Rose's camp to try to pre-emptively stop him taking forever to come back.

I thought the same thing. They have set Derrick up to either return on during the normal recovery window or face a healthy dose of public shaming.

Friedell almost indicated that this might very well have been the case. Basically pulls are putting all of the public pressure on Rose. That said, it would appear Forman indicating Rose will aggressively rehab this would have been vetted by Rose but I think this is the Bulls getting totally out in front of this and saying, Rose, this is what the doctors say, this is what we are publishing. If you want to do otherwise, you will no longer be protected by us.

General belief that we'll hear from Rose in the next few days as well.

It's possible that Derrick might actually have learned something from his first two rehabs stints. He might actually realize that no level of conservatism in his play will totally protect him from future injury. It's possible, but with Derrick's "circle," it's unlikely.

I agree with this and given the reports that he was told this issue was a pretty high probability, you'd think he'd know, this is in general on the more minor side and is not one of those if you rush back too quick, you are talking about major issues (supposedly rehab for this is more minor). In fact, seems like a lot of people think he might actually feel better than he has all year as a result of this clean up procedure. With Rose's history though, we shall see. Would be huge if he is back, but really key to me if he could get in at least 5-6 regular season games in (as he works up minutes, etc).

Nah, clearly a poster took them out of context. No way they just had terrible journalism skills.

LOL

Didn't mean to open that back up.

Unsurprisingly, they now changed the article to removal of the damaged part, not "repaired" as the initial report suggested.

I still have 0 faith this guy comes back this year.

I think he will comeback, right before the playoffs. Then he will play like s*** for 2 weeks or so because he always has a lot of "rust" in his game returning from injuries, and we will probably get knocked out in the second round.

Not just that. I have zero faith in this guy even if he comes back.

I think it's amazing that this team is still almost certainly a playoff team.

Why? Recently, Noah has been playing like Noah, Jimmy has been great all year, and Dunleavy is an excellent offensive role player. Taj/Niko/Snell are better than most of the crap in the east. The front court is top 5 in the NBA, top to bottom.
