That has nothing to do with speed. Poor base running all together. After you freeze to see if it falls there is no way you are getting home unless the ball is bobbled

Looked like Avi's head was down sprinting while McEwing had his arms in the air about 15 feet down the line. I couldn't tell if he was yelling or not but you have to be yelling stop or stay or something. It cost us 2 runs

He was on pace to shatter records for the worst defensive season by a 2nd baseman ever. I know you are his biggest fan, but he was really bad.

I wouldn't fault Ventura for benching Avi after that play. Time someone sets an example for these miscues.

DJ's excuse is most other teams are bad at this too these days.

 

That the good teams make fewer mistakes (see Twins of 2001-2010 or Cardinals, albeit not today) and let their opponents beat themselves.

I hate Oakland. Those damn drums or whatever they are playing in the stands is beyond annoying. Not sure how anyone gets through a whole game listening to that
