July 30, 201510 yr The Dodgers must be paying all of Morse's salary, because the rebuilding Braves with Freeman at 1B don't have much need for Morse in the OF obviously. Doubt Puig would be going anywhere without Teheran, because Wood's given up quite a few more hits than IP and has a relatively pedestrian 3.54 ERA in the NL. LA surely thought about Price/Hamels/Samardzija and decided to go with packages that would protect their Top 3-4 prospects instead...while solidifying their bullpen with some additional experience. It's not a "hey world, look at me" move like the Jays for Tulo, but it's giving you two innings eaters and reliable arms for the back end. Wood's only 24 years old.
July 30, 201510 yr Gotta be Puig. Unless it's Seager or Urias. So far nothing has been mentioned going to Atlanta.
July 30, 201510 yr That makes a lot more sense, Atlanta has to be getting someone more helpful than Morse when they move Wood. Olivera's on the OKC DL, but this is clearly a long-term move for them at 3B. It's crazy how the Dodgers can just go out and stockpile all these Cubans like Olivera, Guerrera and Arruebarrena and then use them as trade chips right and left.

I agree with the premise of your concern, but to fair, hey haven't traded any of those guys yet. But they have basically purchased several draft picks.
July 30, 201510 yr Trading Wood and Peraza for a guy they got outbid on seems like a terrible trade for the Braves
July 30, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Trading Wood and Peraza for a guy they got outbid on seems like a terrible trade for the Braves Yeah if that's all that is going to Atlanta, I am not getting this trade at all.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) Trading Wood and Peraza for a guy they got outbid on seems like a terrible trade for the Braves I'm sure they're getting more.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) Trading Wood and Peraza for a guy they got outbid on seems like a terrible trade for the Braves Maybe the Dodgers are paying all of his salary, for both guys?
July 30, 201510 yr If completed, Dodgers get Wood, Latos, Johnson, Peraza, Morse. Braves get Olivera, Zach Bird, draft pick. Marlins get 3 low-level pitchers. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/626568766088978433
July 30, 201510 yr Hector Olivera is a potentially prime bat who costs $32M over next five years. Atlanta stocked with young pitching, so can give up Wood. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/626569552223170560
July 30, 201510 yr Dodgers might use some of pieces they get in trade to go after price Edited July 30, 201510 yr by WhiteSoxLifer

July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Chris Johnson? Answering my own question...no Jim Johnson.
July 30, 201510 yr If this trade hasn't gone down yet the title of the thread shouldn't make it seem like it has .
July 30, 201510 yr This type of trade is what happens when you give the smartest minds in the game the largest payrolls to work with.
July 30, 201510 yr Just to put this whole thing in perspective, the Angels could be facing Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and David Price this weekend. Passan http://sports.yahoo.com/news/three-way-dea...-050518209.html Reliever Paco Rodriguez reportedly would be going to the Braves and reliever Luis Avilan to the Dodgers as well. Since the Dodgers already paid Oliver $28 million and $2 million for this year's salary, the Braves would control his rights over the next five years for just $32 million, so the Dodgers just ate $30 million as part of this deal....
July 30, 201510 yr Saw a funny tweet a few hours hours. It said the Dodgers get 3 dicks.....Wood...Johnson...and Latos. :lol:
July 30, 201510 yr I honestly forgot that Olivera was 30 years old. Damn. His numbers is Cuba were absolute pails in comparison to Jose's (obviously a much more premium position, but considering the $$ he got). Sort of surprised ATL had to give up Peraza in this deal, but I suppose the the Dodgers picking up half of the Olivera's contract (in bonus $), it makes more sense. Still seems a bit steep. I wonder what Braves fans think.
July 30, 201510 yr Author Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 35s35 seconds ago To Dodgers: Wood, Latos, Morse, Avilan, Johnson, Peraza, Arroyo To Braves: Olivera, Paco, Bird, pick To Marlins: Brigham, Guzman, Araujo Holy balls that's a lot of players

So basically, ATL got Touki in this deal as well. It is pretty crazy MLB lets the Dodgers throw their dick around like this.
