Good to see this is what passes for journalism at the Sun Times now. The headline and Lede aren't supported by anything in the article. I see one attributed quote about his market -- from Hahn. That's one opinion by a guy that has a very vested outcome in seeing such a "robust" market form for Shark. I mean, FFS, at least get the pro-forma puff piece quote from an "un named scout" that "sees a fixable flaw" and a guy "ready to bounce back at a buy low price". Jeez.

“Obviously, it’s unfortunate that it happened on our watch. We all had high expectations, including Jeff of himself. In terms of the impact it has on him going forward or us going forward, I think it’s relatively non-existent.”

Thanks Hahn but I'm pretty sure not having Marcus and Bassit will affect the team going forward and that Jeff's awful season will impact the team in 2016. Hahn is already mastering KW style "cover your ass" quotes.

What do you expect him to say?

I'd translate that as follow:

Yeah, ya' know, Jeff sucked balls with us. But really, what'd we give up? A SS who isn't a SS that can hit a bit, but will never be even an OK defender. A back of the rotation pitcher who isn't that young that will likely be a middle reliever at best? Plus a C that Coop hates and our pitchers hated throwing to. Oh and we threw in this guy down in AA who supposedly can hit minor league pitching pretty well, but has no position or power. Yeah, I traded a bunch of leftovers for Shark, and Shark s*** the bed.

They didn't think that Marcus and Bassitt were huge losses though. They decided that Samardzija (for 1 year)+top 30 2016 pick is better going forward than the 4 players that they gave up.

Excellent post

And in hindsight that turned out to be a pretty s***ty decision. I'm not expecting Hahn to rip Shark a new asshole in his comments but I'd like a little more than just COA boilerplate. At least the org is speaking with one voice at the moment and you don't have KW in the news one day saying something and then Hahn the next saying something else.

Meh, the world is not a conspiracy theory, bro. He pretty much just said Shark was terrible with the Sox and that he is unconcerned about what he gave up in return. More forthcoming than I'd expect he'd be, honestly.

Anybody know long he has to decide on the offer?

Until Friday.

All I've seen and don't need a news article is another White Sox "maybe it will work this time" getting experience NL talent that fails. Nothing says "impressive" about him anyway. If anything you would think he would have decent stats in the AL since hitters did not face him enough. They seen him and liked him for batting practice.

Thanks. So if a player accepts a QO would that be considered an extension or a FA signing as far as the ability to trade that player?

I don't think you can trade them until sometime in May or June without their consent.
