  1. Disclaimer, I'm a Texas Tech grad and big fan. However, Jung is going to be a star. He can do it all on the field, and is a good kid/hard worker off the field. He has been making tough plays at 3B look routine for a while now. He will have another big year next year with his 1-2 of Holt/Klein coming back in front of him in the order. Would take him over India everytime.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 03:36 PM) OU isn't good. Tech and KU are the two best then WVU. Trae Young has to have 35 and 12 for OU to even have a chance in games.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 06:20 PM) NFL continues to be a laughing joke. What in the world is a catch Refs are always the toughest player for the Pats. Almost impossible to beat them.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) You are probably the only person on this entire site that has real issue with Rick Hahn. So you could say he was going after Hahn, solo?
  5. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) So they're admitting that UNC cheated but because they couldn't prove they intentionally cheated it's not a violation (when does that excuse EVER work in regards to NCAA infractions? Intent is rarely considered). They're also admitting that this has to do with academics, and they could give two s***s about academics. Most of the students in the classes were general students. But yes, UNC should be ashamed over that "academic" program overall. Even as a UNC fan, when you combine this with the FBI doing their job for them, it doesn't look good for the NCAA either. 6. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 09:48 PM) They’d have to keep him on the mlb roster all year. No one is doing that. Yep, that would be a nightmare K total.
  7. Would be very disappointed to lose Micker. Had a solid season at age 20 in A. Felt like the light was finally coming on.
  8. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 06:37 PM) I think one of the big things dragging Beer down right now is his bad history with wood bats. This was his second summer playing with wood bats and he looked bad both times. That will be hard to make up for during the college season, but it really just takes one team that is willing to risk it for him to go high, so I think he'll get drafted higher than his projections, but his projections will be low. When you combine the wood bat problems with the defensive issues, you can see why teams are scared off. He will put up another big year with metal bats, but teams will be thinking "so what? why can't he hit with wood bats?"
  9. Competitive end to the season and still get the 4th pick, seems like the best of both worlds. Great draft to have a top 5 pick, loads of talent.
  10. Even as a Steelers fan, couldn't help but enjoy the karma there with that loss.
  11. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 10:39 PM) Hmmm, while I understand what you are saying, I think you need to take each case. With that mindset, you are saying you would have taken Drew Stubbs over Clayton Kershaw. There are hundreds more examples. And while I know there are hundreds of examples of the prep arm flaming out, if you want to draft a guy that is going to be a superstar, there will likely be some risk involved. The fear comes alongside the White Sox track record with high school pitchers. The only successful pitcher the Sox have drafted from high school in the top 5 rounds since 2002 was Gio Gonzales. One success in 15+ years. The other logic behind it is the "window for opportunity". Seth Beer has a chance to help the roster in 2019. A high school pitcher likely wouldn't be up until 2020 at the very earliest, unless they are a superstar out of the gate. With that said, just get the BPA and plan on competing for years. If Singer is there, its almost a no brainer at this point. Reminds me of Kerry Wood in his better days.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Sox are getting the 1st or 2nd pick. Book it. Yep, seems like picks 1 and 2 are set. The Phillies seem to be insurmountable in their suckitude. Will be interesting to see if Singer is taken #1 if the Sox will take the risk with a HS kid, or take the best available college player to fit better with the "timeline".
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) I bet this was all Kap's fault :-P. Nice to see you again, been a long time.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) It's obviously a fair point but not everyone has the same development timeline. I completely understand why people have Hansen ranked lower but with his stuff and the way he continues to grow and get better, imo he's our 2nd best pitching prospect. its a fair argument, but I can't argue with you over Duke/UNC anymore, so I have to start crap somewhere.
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Cheers to that. Nothing against Lopez/Giolito/Fulmer but Kopech/Hansen/Dunning are the pitchers I'm most excited about. Really like Clarkin alot too. Not talking smack, just curious how someone values Dunning over Lopez. Lopez has been fantastic at Charlotte, which is the best hitters park in the league. He also has plus stuff and is only 23 years old. I feel like he's constantly overlooked in the system, even being a top 50 prospect. He's all of 9 months older than Hansen and 11 months older than Dunning. I think he will be a hell of a #2 to Kopech for years to come with the Sox. I would say... 1. Kopech(easy) 2. Lopez 3. Hansen (slight) 4. Giolito (debatable, I'm in the Coop will fix em camp) 5. Cease 6. Dunning 7. Guerrero 8. Adams ... 37. Ballpark Vendor 55. Pat Daneker 79. Carson Fulmer In all seriousness, it's an abundance of riches. Even Guerrero at #7 has a good shot as a #3/#4 rotation lefty.
  16. Hansen's season reminds me of Rauch's POY season. Just nasty.
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 28, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) But I don't think that's the case. Anyone who thinks it guarantees the Sox anything close to a WS is a fool. This plan is WAY more risky than what the Sox have been doing the last decade. If this doesn't work, you can find yourself stuck in a cycle of bad for a really long time. Sox had a lot of assets and traded them for what seems like great value. If this fails, the assets like Sale Eaton and Q won't be around to help us start over. It's very scary. But, most of us were sick of the same old 75 win team filled with veterans and couldn't get over the hump. Again, that's more on the front office than anyone, but with this, there is at least a plan in place for hopeful long term success, for multiple seasons. It's hope, not a guarantee. That's the thing about the MLB draft, if you are the worst team in baseball, you will get first shot at what is likely elite talent in the draft. Assuming you don't Brien Taylor the pick, you will have the #1 pick in every round. You can easily re-stock your future with a couple of drafts. That is assuming that you don't have terrible scouts and decision makers. That's a whole other argument though. You can always fix yourself from the draft, Latin America, and free agency, especially as a mid to major market type club. If you are a Pirates, Royals, Athletics type club, then you have to completely rely on making the right decisions each year with no room for error. Even if the system completely flames out(which it won't), then you will be terrible and get shots at elite talent in the draft and Latin America, etc. I would MUCH rather see Hahn go MLB The Show type rebuild, instead of languishing around mediocrity for a decade.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) This is a REALLY bad take this early. I don't know what's with you so far this year but you've been overreacting to everything. It wouldn't be the FutureSox board without Fathom's bipolar takes on prospect progress, and I say that with respect. I am generally more pessimistic about them as well.
  19. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 12:07 AM) before the season began i picked Jordan Guerrero as my break out candidate and after a horrid April he has been on fire. Even in April he was still limiting walks and striking out a ton of guys. I see a lot of oft injured former Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia in him and if the sox can get a 3/4 out of a 15th round pick that would be quite impressive. Calling our future rotation. Giolito Rodon Kopech Guerrero Hansen My list would be close: 1. Kopech 2. Rodon 3. Lopez 4. Giolito 5. Guerrero Hansen has the potential, but hasn't produced outside of low-A yet.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) I would actually argue that Jeren Kendall has a much better shot at being a solid big leaguer than Alex Call or Jameson Fisher. He has 70-80 speed, + arm, + glove, + bat speed, and + power. If he didn't strikeout too much, he'd be a top 3 pick. I'm not really sure any of those guys you listed are worth the $4 million price tag. For orgs that have had a history of developing guys with a lack of plate discipline, its a valid risk worth taking. For the White Sox, a guy comes into the system with issues, and leaves with issues. Hiura could be a good pick if he didn't have the elbow issues. Do you draft him and immediately put him under TJ surgery? Do you relegate him to 1B instead? Could do worse with this pick. Evan White is just underwhelming for me. He's very good defensively, but is his power ever going to develop? I would be thrilled with Pavin Smith. He's solid defensively at 1B, and has a beautiful swing and eye at the plate. His power has also developed while hitting in a pitchers park at UVA. He continued his success in the Cape Cod league as well with wooden bats. I think he would be a fast-track guy that could be part of the rebuild in 2 years.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) joe Crede is last one I can think of. You can make an argument for Chris Young. But either way, its really depressing.
  22. Just have to say, even in my wildest dreams this season, never did I fully expect the Sox to go into full rebuild mode. Pretty fun to see. Back to "The Kids Can Play".
