  1. This 1st inning was entirely predictable. I now wonder if this team is capable of winning 40 games.
  2. Welcome to Soxtalk. I post over at HF Hawks too, so good to see ya here. Keep BWC the hell away from this board lol.
  3. Yes, but the stuff was significantly better. He had a 70 fastball topping at 98 and a 60 curve. People need to remember that college starters have 6 days rest in between starts and sometimes they lose a bit pitching every 5 days. This seems to have happened to Fulmer. Unfortunately, you don't know who's going to lose some stuff on a short schedule until they are already drafted.
  4. +1. He's either a starter or not a major league pitcher. He doesn't throw enough strikes to come out of the pen.
  5. Honestly, I don't think this thread is necessary or meaningful until August. It is pointless worrying about draft position with over 120 games remaining.
  6. Both are true. Have you ever been to a Christian Evangelical church? I have. The amount of love for Israel is scary. According to the preacher, Israel must be protected at any cost and they can do no wrong. Why? Because Jesus is coming.
  7. I'm still in the McClanahan camp. I think he's a White Sox special, similar to Hansen. If they go pitcher and it isn't McClanahan I'll be furious.
  8. And now Iran and Israel are starting a war. Great. We're sure to side with Israel because Jesus.
  9. We're annoyed. Obviously player development isn't linear. More of the complaints are about wasting service time for anyone on the big club who could be part of the next contender when most of the players involved in that team are nowhere close to ready.
  10. Probably not, but if the pitching stays as bad as it has been already they'll be challenging the 2003 Tigers and 1962 Mets for worst 162 game record ever. May I suggest the following: If you're going to watch the MLB team's games in 2018, only care about the following players performance: Moncada, Giolito, Fulmer, Lopez, Anderson. These players could be here in 2020 and later. With them, expect peaks and valleys and don't overreact to hot streaks/slumps. All 5 of them can figure it out at the MLB level, it isn't like going to AAA will help any. Sink or Swim time. The Sox aren't winning anything anyway so player development>>>>>wins. Also, watch the following players in hopes they become trade bait: Rodon, Abreu, Davidson, Sanchez These guys are have either too much accumulated service time and should be traded as soon as value dictates you get a good return and will be FA before the competitive window opens or shortly afterward. Abreu could stay, but I'd lean toward taking the best deal available because 2020 is a best case scenario right now. The remainder of the roster is rebuild filler and they're all lucky they have MLB jobs. No need to say more than that. For your mental and physical health, take an idgaf attitude toward them. Shrug off bad plays with "meh" reactions. With the exception of Burger, Hansen, and Robert the MiLB season is going about as well as you could reasonably expect, if not better. If Hansen/Robert stay healthy the rest of the season and put their injuries behind them I expect them to perform well. The future is bright. Patience is necessary.
  11. None of them are missing bats, and they're all walking the world. When Lopez faces decent hitting teams, he doesn't strike anyone out really and he walks 4-5 batters per game. I won't be surprised if he starts getting shelled too.
  12. http:// https://twitter.com/SoxMach_pnoles/status/994054335469375488?s=09 Not good.
  13. It's not rocket surgery. I love botched rhetorical questions lol.
  14. Also interesting is Giolito is still one of 2 pitchers in the majors with a K/BB ratio less than 1. That is reserved for only the worst performing pitchers in the game.
  15. I was thinking someone like the guy playing 3B for the Pirates tonight. might be 24 or 25, but Giolito will be 24 himself in July.
  16. I agree, he's had some really, really poor defense behind him this season.
  17. I actually question those who think Giolito is a mental midget, because I disagree. He's battled out there without his best stuff a bunch this year. he's young, and manager decisions and the Houston game make his numbers much worse than they have to be. Most pitchers make their MLB debut at 23, so he's ahead of schedule having 100 IP by now. I'm confused about him actually. I think it is too early to give up on the guy, but man he looks awful right now.
  18. I agree they shouldn't, but the guy just keeps getting shelled. Would you hang on until there is nothing you could get other than a bag of used baseballs? The Sox have plenty of decent arms in the minors. I've been as big of a fan of the guy as you would find, but at some point you have to admit the guy might just be bad at baseball.
  19. He's got to figure something out quickly because there are pitchers performing in the minors that are itching to take his spot. It wouldn't shock me in the least if he got traded for a hitter that is a reclamation project as well.
  20. He got hit hard twice in that inning but most of those were seeing eye grounders. Not much you can do about that.
  21. I didn't think this was possible, but Renteria might be worse than Ventura. Renteria's managing decisions are questionable at best and mindboggling at worst.
  22. Just because Leury got the job done doesn't mean it wasn't an incredibly stupid idea to bunt there.
  23. I know he's not good but I just see more value in running him out there as a placeholder than MiGo, on the off chance that Coop can help him in some way.
  24. I know Harvey is Jakovasaurus Rex, but the upside there has to be worth more than sending out MiGo every 5th day, right? If he becomes more trouble than he's worth they can just DFA him again.
