  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) The Babe just rolled over in his grave. I give CC credit for checking himself in. Must not have been an easy thing to do. Particularly given the timing. I imagine there are extenuating circumstances that we may never hear about. I wish him good luck.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) PG Te'Jon Lucas announcing tomorrow. Down to Illinois, USC, and Old Dominion. He was scheduled to visit C-U this weekend, so the timing doesn't seem to bode well for Illinois.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) Not providing Brady access to files and not allowing him to question Pash seem to be the two major parts here. That first argument about notice is such nonsense. Not at all. In labor relations law, "notice" is universally regarded as one of the essential elements required to establish "just cause" for discipline.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 08:22 AM) This season of True Detective was too pretentious and convoluted. It wasn't all bad, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I agree 100%.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) that is a great point. can't imagine her cross examine and when they start asking about her past sexual encounters. Many states have "rape shield" laws that limit that kind of thing.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:40 AM) I have to admit, I'm really lost as to what the hell is actually happening in TD this season. There's an article on Slate breaking all of it down and even that thing is too long to read. I read that Slate article. It was long, but worth the time imo.
  7. I rarely get seriously pissed over baseball anymore, but last night was an exception. That send with no outs was inexcusable.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:40 AM) He's been plucked more times than the rose of tralee, I'm told.
  9. That hadn't occurred to me. I think the 2000 run was a lot more impressive, as it came against much better competition, including an eventual 90-win Tribe team and a first place Yankees club. Also, the 2000 team was already something to be excited over before that happened.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) D'angelo Jimenez. Yeah, he immediately leapt to mind when I read the "dumbest player."
  11. According to this, Cubs offered Phil. Baez and Castro for Hamels: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyba...le-hamels-talks
  12. I thought the All-Star Game caps were a stupid idea and hideously ugly.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) don't expect as much of a return this year. He only has 1/2 a year for the next team. Also, the players traded may have been MLB ready but they had serious flaws. They weren't really highly regarded prospects. I totally agree. I think many overestimate the return Shark would bring based on what the Cubs got under vastly different circumstances.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Winning the series vs Toronto plus Shark's great game, certainly increases the interest in this three game series. No DH, so I wonder what the Cubs' plan for Schwarber is? Can't wait. I think Schwarber is back in the minors. I am going tomorrow; haven't been to Wrigley in years; not that pumped about it.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) Let him finish it. Yes, please
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) I can't tell if this US Open course is awful or awesome Your right on both counts: Awesome course; awful greens. I wish the USGA would go back to playing the US Open on lush golf courses, instead of trying to stage the British Open here. That was two brown ones in a row after Pinehurst last year.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Same if you asked people who knew the history. Its use in the first half of this century was very little, it suddenly became an important symbol in the 1940s and 1950s again...because of exactly that reason. "The flag was first raised over the [s.C.] Capitol in 1962, largely to express defiance of the civil rights movement." http://www.nytimes.com/1997/01/24/us/confe...h-carolina.html
  18. QUOTE (MEANS @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) I get to work on some pretty cool stuff where I work(Reebok) and for the 2nd time in two years my t-shirt design was selected as the Championship Locker Room tee that the guys wear after hoisting the cup. Even better that I'm a Blackhawks fan too. Congrats Blackhawks!!!! That's fantastic!
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 41m41 minutes ago Kucherov on the ice for Lightning morning skate If he's good to play, then he really should have come back out for G5. I think its a feint, and he sits. It sure looked like he broke his collar bone.
  20. I am no expert, but its pretty clear that the Hawks have not played their best hockey. I really feel better things are to come, and that has been their trend late in series. I don't know enough about TB to say whether they can kick it up a notch to withstand what I hope is coming. I still think Hawks in six.
  21. Author and former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi, 80.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Is Toews? Sharp? Bickell? Hossa, Kane, Keith, Toews, Sharp & Bickell have 0 goals combined. You have to think one of those guys gets hot eventually. I think Hossa's played well. I credit TB for the job they're doing against Kane & Toews. Bickell's been his usual self (this year), and as for Keith, you can't count on your D-men for scoring, consider it a bonus. Patrick Sharp is the one who confounds me.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 31, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Ya this wedding was at a country club so there were tv's everywhere. The bride told the bartenders they weren't allowed to turn them on but we overpowered that cause we're good friends. Man, I feel sorry for your buddy who got married. I am old enough to remember when the Hawks played Tampa in their first ever game. Was I pissed when they won the cup first. From the footage I watched this weekend, the Bolts seriously look like the proverbial "team that is happy to be there." The contrast with the all business, experienced Hawks was stark. I am not as certain as I was last year that the Western Conference winner was going to be the de facto Stanley Cup champion, but I feel more confident going into this series than any one so far this year. Hawks in 6.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Imagine how bad it would be if Vince Coleman was not on the payroll. Seriously what and the hell is he getting paid for? I remember watching opening day and Hawk pining about how great the base running was going to be this year. That was back when Hawk thought the team was going to be good Coleman is in charge of making sure players don't get attacked by the tarp rollers. If you think about it, he's done a stellar job so far.
