Morally ambiguous characters

I need some suggestions for books/films/tv shows that have a morally ambiguous main character. I am teaching a class on The Psychology of Monsters and want to explore some characters that aren't clear cut as good or evil. The materials would need to be appropriate for first year college students. Thank you!

Don Draper

I would disagree. I think there is a clear point of view about what is wrong and what is right with Don Draper.

He just fails by his own standards frequently.

I think a much more morally ambiguous character in Madmen would be Roger Sterling.

How about John Kramer from the "Saw" films. His reasons and methods of "testing" his victims were very morally ambiguous.

I dunno. 30 or so counts of accessory to murder might make one think he leans more to the "evil" side.

Yeah, I don't think his ridiculous justifications about teaching people some kind of lesson about treasuring life by surviving mutilations are gonna be enough to push him into the middle. Half the people didn't even get a legit test or were killed because someone else failed their test.

Peggy Olson.
