Skubal to Dodgers
They do think that he can stick in CFA (for now)...but there's a considerable difference of opinion about how true that will be down the line as he fills out. At the very least, adding Max Clark and Greene into the mix make for a very nice outfield trio. Now the big question shifts to whether the Tigers will eventually have enough pitching if you also trade Mize? https://www.espn.com.sg/mlb/story/_/id/49469642/mlb-trade-deadline-grades-2026-tarik-skubal-los-angeles-dodgers-detroit-tigers-blockbuster A=Dodgers D=Tigers F=the rest of baseball fans

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
They are...unless you mean Dominguez and his buyout. No way JR was taking on all that money without an offset somewhere... Boston Smith was essentially the "JR cost" of sending Dominguez out.

I would have guessed you could have had Castillo for free if you're taking on all the money. Getz probably didn't need to include a prospect but panicked.

Castillo to Sox for Dominguez, Boston Smith, Nolan Jones per Passan
he's fine. i think he has some juice left and the piggyback thing was dumb. that said, his metrics and age and contract are all middling. middling add, I guess taking on this for seranthony is good but yea, middling.

Skubal to Dodgers
Skubal Yamamoto Ohtani??? Snell Glasnow Sheehan Wrobleski All Star Sasaki back to pen for postseason...averaging 99.5 fb in recent starts Detroit is also likely to trade Mize as well...opening two rotation spots B- "The Tigers got a solid return, but they failed to land Josue De Paula, Mike Sirota or Eduardo Quintero, who are L.A.’s top outfield prospects. It’s also worth noting that they didn’t need to be here. Detroit severely lowballed him during discussions about a long-term extension. And this offseason, it only offered him $19 million in arbitration, which was, frankly, insulting. In the end, Skubal won his arbitration case for a record $32 million. There was no coming back. They should have traded him at that point instead of waiting for the deadline and taking a smaller return. The franchise put itself in this position by not locking up its star player and accepted a package that is below his market value." https://www.si.com/mlb/tarik-skubal-trade-grades-how-tigers-dodgers-did-in-deal-for-cy-young-winner

You watch the Mariners, how bad has Castillo really been?

huh. interesting move. not sure it helps us much.

Skubal to Dodgers
Not even going to get their best prospect for a two month rental unless he's willing to sign an extension like Freddy Garcia did with the Sox. (Unless you're dealing with a river boat gambler like AJ Preller...)

Skubal to Dodgers
Ryan/all about health the hitter is an acknowledged great prospect (so was Torkelson) with a questionable body who ends up at a corner or DH...Yordan Lite

I like this deal tbh. Shocked at how many hated it. Wonder if this and Skubal means that Milwaukee ends up with Peralta. Can’t wait to see David Kaplan go off on Monday about his Cubs getting no one

I’m ok with Sox not paying that price

Skubal to Dodgers
As someone who has rooted for the Dodgers as their NL team since Mannywood was a thing, I hate the deal. Not because of the money but because of the lack of prospects. That was the best deal you could get for the best pitcher in baseball??? It should’ve been the top 3 prospects not this.

Yet still had the clear #1 farm system and basically got Sasaki for a pittance...well, because they're the Dodgers.

Skubal to Dodgers
https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/the-dodgers-with-tarik-skubal-now-in-the-fold-become-even-more-imposing-infuriating-and-inevitable-044401640.html "Remember, the current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire in December. A messy labor war between the league and union is hurtling down the pike. A lengthy work stoppage is expected. The economic system that emerges from that mess might not involve a salary cap, but it also might. Skubal should get a Brinks truck on the open market regardless, but there's a chance that a deal from Los Angeles under the current system proves more lucrative than the alternative. It's unclear as of now how preexisting contracts would be handled under a new structure, but Los Angeles almost certainly could spend more on Skubal today than in a few months' time. Of course, that's a tomorrow problem, a flashpoint for our future selves. The here and now involves Skubal in Dodger blue. That alone won't determine the outcome of this baseball season. But it feels like it could. For many, that's enough to feel overwhelmed with despondence. The Dodgers and their fans? They shouldn't care one bit."

Yeah TBH, this team is so young and it's so unclear what you're going to get from people that I just don't know if it makes sense to go out and try to get a bunch of upgrades. Keep the ear to the ground for bullpen depth and pick up a MLB catcher, then roll with your guys. Also, call Houston's GM and see if they'll take Bonemer + Carlson + Noah + anything for Yordan.

Hagen and McDougal pitched tonight, so they wouldn't get called up yet anyway. For the moment, I think Hagen is more likely to be successful in MLB out of the pen but I also think Sox are in less need of a lefty reliever. Especially if they are thinking of keeping Noah in some kind of swing role.

The more I stew on this, the more I think this is the “big” pitching move. Not sure we add another arm at this point. More or less expecting something like this moving forward: Rotation: Burke Martin Castillo Kay* Fedde Bullpen: CL: Taylor SU: Newcomb* SU: Hicks SU: Hudson* MR: Murphy* MR: McDougal MR: H. Smith* LR: Richards

Another item from the Sox Machine podcast tonight. Fegen said Sox sources have told him they are NOT calling up either Smith or McDougal. Looking for bullpen help with Dominquez gone and of course catching. Teel still working out with his ankle in a walking boot which Fegen said "tells you how far he is from being ready."

I just don’t really get this idea of not trying to get good players. People are panicking over Boston Smith meanwhile the dodgers get this weird world where we act like river Ryan at 45 years old is still a prospect in trading for an actual impact starter. Some weird collusion in baseball that we play along to dodgers prospects being good.

I’m going on a limb here, but I will predict the Sox trade Wolkow for a rental catcher. Feels like there are a handful of guys they are looking to cash in on and Boston was one and George is another.
