  2. Here are a couple more stats for people who want to fire Shoman and see the White Sox rework their offensive approach. Chase Rate / O-Swing%(Swinging at pitches out of the zone): 2022 White Sox: 34.7% (4th worst in MLB) 2026 White Sox: 28.8% (Better then league average) Zone Swing % (Swinging at strikes): 2022 White Sox: 69% (top of the league) 2026 White Sox: 68.2% (top ten) Whiff% (swing and miss) 2022 White Sox: 24.1% 2026 White Sox: 27.8% Because the White Sox had no plate discipline in 2022, they struck out less even though they swung at everything. In 2026, they traded that aggressiveness to only swing hard at pitches they could actually do some damage on. I actually think, and statistical analysis backs me up here, that the issue in Games 3-5 is that they abandoned the approach that had brought them to this point.
  3. No joke. Your lived experience isn't the compass we all follow.
  4. Again, i will point out that you mocking the experience of minorities for a joke is a horrific thing to be doing in 2026.
  5. Just because you, personally, haven't witnessed it, does not mean it isn't occurring. Let's be mindful of microaggressions and unconscious bias.
  6. Even though the node was cancerous (New York Times) it was small and localized. He’s in good hands.
  7. I never stated a preference. I just pointed that that the only result of striking out less is not double plays. In fact, it is still one of the lowest percentage outcomes in the world of potential outcomes.
  8. The nodule that was removed from Pope Leo was cancerous. ☹️ Let’s hope they caught it early https://apnews.com/article/vatican-pope-surgery-86268530ef22fd14d2712067e89946f1?utm_source=app&utm_medium=iOS_share&utm_campaign=copy_link
  9. Not what I'm arguing dude. I'm saying that the 2022 team had a highly aggressive approach at the plate which did cut down on strikeouts but also increased ground balls that were outs. The 2026 team struck out more but was a lot less aggressive at the plate and thus hit the ball in the air more and walked. That patience at the plate can lead to strikeouts as if you don't get the pitch you want, you don't swing. I'm honestly Kenny Williams shocked that you'd rather see a team like the 2022 team vs the 2026 team. Becuase that is what you are arguing for. I'd also argue that the strikeouts piled up in the playoffs due to pressure and less because of anything Shoman did.
  10. I will say this much on Schiff. I have yet to say anyone use phrases or descriptions of his talents that included coded references to his heritage, or aspects of his personality that go towards black culture.
  11. This post deserves a "YEAH BUDDY"
  12. Sure, but on average, more contact leads to way more hits than it will DPs. By a factor of 8 to 10X just based on how many hits versus DPs happen in a season. The vast majority of contact will end in an out either way, but contact allows for WAAAAY more hits than DPs. I know the focus is on DPs because it is the worst case scenario, but it is also one of the least common outcomes.
  13. Honestly, it really never crosses my mind that John Schriffen is black. He's just not good at his job even if he's less bad than we was when he started. Playing the race card shouldn't be a factor in deciding if it's best to move on to someone else. I liked DJ when he was on TV. He was obviously moved to the radio booth when Steve Stone became available after his falling out with the Cubs organization. They had Stone on the radio his first year with us, but they obviously weren't going to keep a well-known talent like him on the radio side permanently.
  14. Not what I'm arguing. Arguing about how ground ball rate and aggressiveness might avoid K's but lead to a higher GIDP rate. Which is the ultimate rally killer
  15. I will note this much. Most years, the GIDP leaders are in the 25 to 30 range. For strike outs, that number is typically over 200. Contact is far from a one to one when it comes to GIDP. The end result of more contact is most often more outs, but only a small fraction of those would be double plays, by average.
  16. We need about 300 starting pitching innings of at least a decent quality. I don't think we need to have a superstar at the front, though that makes the post season potentially harder. But we HAVE got to get more GOOD innings from the rotation, as it relieves a ton of pressure on the back end of the rotation as well as the bullpen is able to settle into more predictable roles and routines.
  17. Definitely a bigger rally killer then a double play
  18. 🤔. I wonder why that was? For context, here is where we ranked in those categories in 2022. AL: Runs: 8th BB: 15th HBP: 4th GIDP: Tied for 4th Home Runs: 10th (our team leader had 17 home runs on a team that was built to hit home runs. ) K: 13th In fairness, Eloy would have cleared 30 had he been healthy. Still.... If people don't understand how ground balls are worse after reading that... I don't know what to tell you.
  19. Give me Kaima Taira and Michael King.
  20. I love Schriff Dawg and I question whether his treatment by fans and media is due to his skin color. He's the first person of color in the TV booth since DJ, who was also not well received and pushed to the radio booth. I could not stand that dork Benetti but fans seemed to love him. Odd.
  21. Yeah, again, I am not sure what is expected here, other than some kind of royal reverence than isn't being paid to the right politicians. I know it isn't what they wanted, but the expectation seems to be that everyone had to sit and wait for these people to decide to allow them to do something, and then be happy with it, but that isn't way the private sector works. The Sox didn't get what they wanted, so they moved on to plan B. I have yet to hear where the City or State came back to them with a different plan, so here we are.
  22. Yeah buddy!
  23. I think the biggest conundrum for this team is the middle infield log jam. Can Sam solve the outfield? Is his bat good enough to justify a chunk of starts at DH? Meidroth is a mainstay on this team but his spot is at 2B. Can he play SS? Seems like between Roch, Bonemer, or even an unlikely bounce back from Colson that Chase is destined to stay at 2B. How do you maximize the collection of Chase, Sam, Colson, Roch, Bonemer, and Carlson. Who stays and who goes? Who provides a ample trade return? Who provide clubhouse value? I'm providing more questions than answers but how Getz navigates these 6 players can make or break the rebuild.
  24. Ald. Dowell vowed to use her aldermanic privilege to block approval of a White Sox stadium at the 78. If city officials are serious that the 78 is a dead end, why should they be shocked if they moved on to looking to build across the river, which happens to be in another ward? Does Ald. Lee have a plan to try to work with Amtrak to find an alternate location for their maintenance facility if residents really don't want it to be built in Bridgeport? Having people shouting down Amtrak officials and union reps when they speak at public hearings and city council meetings makes for very good performative politics, but is it going to make Amtrak (and their federal exemptions and eminent domain powers) go away? Amtrak doesn't want to stay at 14th St. and the Sox don't want to stay in Bridgeport. Does the city have a plan to address that?
  25. He was awesome, and today all I remember about him is being a POS and getting knocked out by Jose Ramirez after trying to act like a tough guy. Very sad.
  26. We need an off season catch all! Just saw this on MLB shop. I can't justify the price but it really is a nice festive cap, fitted too. https://www.neweracap.com/products/chicago-white-sox-pumpkin-patch-59fifty-fitted
