  2. This. Dude is still a minimum wage player for two more season with a superstar ceiling. You don't piss away guys like that until they prove over multiple seasons they can't be saved.
  3. They are short in the bullpen because they have no starting pitching. This pen would be immensely better if it wasn't going 6-8 innings on most game days. Even the worst guys like Hudson were fine selectively used in shorter and more select stints as they would be in a normal staff. The starting pitching rolls down hill, good, bad or indifferent. You also aren't going to win with running the same guys out there 3-4 times in a 5 game series with the guys the Sox have.
  4. They’re very short in the bullpen due to Brazobust
  5. Only some select national TV games will be played on Monday involving a few teams who would then get Thursday off. All the other clubs would be off Monday.
  6. There will be games everyday though...right? I mean...this plan isn't suggesting that every team will be off on every Thursday (or something like that) is it?
  7. I understand and respect your positions...but a contending team at the deadline should worry about a "small sample size"! Winning means you worry about NOW! The STRETCH! I get you don't want to do something stupid...but Cleveland made additions with the stretch in mind! For some reason we made additions thinking that Luis Castillo will have some sort of value to us in that stretch AND next year! Doyle as well...in a normal off-season...do the White Sox even offer Doyle a contract/arbitration?? There is NO DOUBT Cleveland's front office was much more successful than the White Sox front office was!
  8. If we show the plate discipline we did in Cleveland, we will win. Their pitchers have still been all over the shop with their control.
  9. The Castillo trade with grade out as one of the worst of the deadline, and potentially one of the worst of the decade if the prospects do anything out of it. But outside of that, the deadline was exactly what it needed to be. I would go D for JUST the deadline right now. The rest of the season has to be an A though. I guess I prefer a bigger picture approach, especially when he was proven right on adding for just this year.
  10. Keep the streak going of the away team winning
  11. The the offense massively overachieved, and the pitching massively underachieved based on where we started 2026. I think this really was about a 75 win team that benefited from an absolutely terrible AL to make up a lot of extra games, with a liberal amount of walkoff luck built into those 9 bonus wins. Even I am ready to hold off of the firing until we see what happens to the pitching in the next year, and if the main offensive guys take the next step. He's earned another year.
  12. I will stand on this until I die, but he has kind of been proven right to NOT add to this team. They benefited from having two very mediocre teams on their side of the bracket for the playoffs, but as wide as the pitching gap is between the Sox and the actually good playoff teams, there wasn't enough out there at the deadline to bridge that gap, and would have pissed away resources to do so. This team was definitely early and unexpected, which also goes to it not being quite ready for prime time. That's fine. But two things need to happen whenever we have an actual offseason. #1 they need to find 300 at least OK innings in the starting rotation, and #2 they need to get all that pitching in the minors back on track. You have GOT to get some starters out of Schultz, McDougal, and Hagen, otherwise this team is just missing too much pitching to fix in a short period of time, and goes back to waiting for the really young guys to break out. It could even be that Shane Smith wasn't a fluke and was just cursed this year, but they need a couple of those guys to be serviceable in 2027. As of today you have Burke as a Yes, Martin as a Maybe, and then ???. You need at least 7 to 8 starters as options over the course of 162, and so far we have 1.
  13. Yeah I'm for using the opener. Newcomb has been good in this role. I like our chances Saturday. For all their home dominance, I think they played too emotional with the crowd and the situation being what it was.
  14. Yeah I guess I would do Newcomb. Currently don't trust wild Hagen
  15. I would guess: Game 1: Fedde (doubt we see him Saturday), Game 2: Martin (if not needed Saturday, otherwise bullpen game), off day, Game 3: Burke
  16. Burke's numbers with an opener are really good though. In 30 innings as a bulk reliever, he has a 1.50 ERA and a 3.2 FIP.
  17. You are seeing what not having any depth of starting pitching is doing to the staff. You can do it over short periods of time, and Will has about done it to perfection, but eventually those guys burn out, and you have seen that the last two days. When you are this short of talent, you can only hide the truly bad guys for so long, or be exposed to one of your good guys having a bad day.
  18. Guardians offense was significantly better in the second half than the first half
  19. Pretty sure Bailey had a hit in similar location in game 1
  20. There’s too much here to give up on so quickly. I think it would be foolish.
