  1. Past hour

  2. As opposed to BaghdadEddy.
  3. I wasn’t trying to say he was bad. That just ended up being a funny situation. DJ and Farmer were way better than Stone and Schriffen for sure.
  4. I can see that as well. This guy is supposed to be very solid at SS as well FWIW. Acuna seems to get a long well with the club and if we have to cut him here I agree, if he has an option might be worth considering if Getz has a good idea of the personality of Mateo and if he'd be willing to be the 26th man.
  5. I don't think the squeeze is worth the juice. Mateo is, at best, a very marginal improvement over Luisangel. Acuna is a magician at SS, is faster, and is already comfortable in his role on this team. Mateo may provide a bit more at the dish but that's about the only advantage he has. Luisangel isn't the issue with this team. We need to be finding a replacement for Grichuk....he's clearly the weak link on this roster at this point in the season.
  6. FG's database is all screwed up but it seems like he's slightly better than Acuna and we don't need another CF with Doyle added. Does Acuna have an option year? If so easy call. I appreciate what Acuna has done as the 26th man but if we can get better lets do it.
  7. Farmer was the best bad announcer of all time. He had a great voice for radio and would go off on tangents instead of calling the game but he was easy on the ears in a way a lot of rambling announcers are not.
  8. While I agree farmer wasn't a good announcer overall (he didn't 'tell you what was happening' or 'tell you the score'), DJ and Farmer would have be in stitches while driving. Benetti's humor i liked but it was more 'I understand you are being humorous', while Farmer and DJ are genuinely weird dudes and it would kill me.
  9. I hear you can talk to Teddy there, how was your conversation?
  10. He also gave us one of the most hilarious calls, which is still a meme on The Score…
  11. Oh - so back on topic a bit. Maybe I missed it, but I looked it up and didn't see much. Ed Farmer deserved a bigger dedication. He passed during the covid years. I can't hear St. Rita without thinking of him. Gave the best call of my sox life with the paul konerko slam. He deserves a bigger day to celebrate him.
  12. yes my bad. Very cool didn't know that was being built. Wish it made sense to do the empire builder amtrak but that's quite a ways off. Big road trip!
  13. An agreement between the Yankee Global Enterprises and Apollo Global Management will see the MLB team receive $2.6 billion from Apollo's sports investment side. The deal will allow the New York Yankees to refinance existing debt while also enabling them to pursue growth opportunities. The Steinbrenner family will continue to have full control of the franchise with Hal Steinbrenner staying on in his role as managing general partner. The Yankees are the most valuable franchise in MLB with recent valuations from Forbes and CNBC ranging from $8.5 billion and $9 billion, respectively. yahoo.com/sports Tray...? PE investment. Good or bad for baseball? Why/why not? "Private equity ruins another American brand (Wendy's). Wall Street is not our friend anymore." John Galt III
  14. I think 5-10% of Chicagoans would recognize Shohei Ohtani. Probably closer to .5-1% for Sam.
  15. His OPS against lefties this year is 100 points higher than Acuna
  16. Curious to see this now. When you say interactive do you mean digital? I have hated the primary digital museums (see the emigration museum in dublin, which feels like it could be anywhere), but small things to participate (the typewriters at the american writers museum) do a bunch.
  17. He's a nice utility guy for sure. I don't think he moves the needle much, probably more than Acuña, but the potential ceiling is lower. I'd give Acuña another spring training at the very least.
  18. Today

  19. Watched an interview with Rick Ankiel a couple days ago. He seemed interested in talking about his anxiety and even how he tried taking shots before a game to try to settle himself. Didn't work (it never does). Hope for Oppor's sake it's a mechanic thing and not a psychological one. The former seems easier to correct and probably less impactful on his day-to-day life outside of sports. Also, reminded me Roger Angell's essay on Steve Blass. Very much worth reading if you never have: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1975/06/23/down-the-drain
  20. https://www.museucr7.com/ Christiano Ronaldo museum (museo/musee) closes (cerrado) in 15 minutes (quince minutos en espanol, mas o menos similar con Portuguesa)
  21. Hes probably a bit better than Acuna albeit not saying much.
  22. Dump Acuna after all this time??? He's at least over a 600 ops, right?
  23. Good idea for PCA!!!...Vargas has the distinctive hair, but just wonder how many Chicagoans would recognize Sam on the street? 5-10% maybe?
  24. Capeshit, objectively lame. That's OK, still cool guys. Good baseball players anyway.
  25. Is that comparable to the Anti Anti Social Club?
  26. MILB contract? Otherwise, who gets kicked off the MLB roster, Acuña DFA? Seems pointless.
