  1. Past hour
  2. Except those morons went to Stanford Northwestern/Kellogg Harvard Law and Michigan. Not morons...just not well suited to working together as an executive team and sharing decision making power when KW and Paddy still wanted to overrule Hahn on talent evaluation/trades.
  3. KW stopped caring, simply got acclimated to a comfortable executive lifestyle with all the perks (2005's long shelf life) and Hahn just never had the eye for talent. Rodriguez was the first to sign an eventual Brazilian major leaguer in Yan Gomes. That was at the same time the White Sox were going after Andre Rienzo and Anderson Gomes, middle of the Wilder scandal days when Jerry Krause was also scouting Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia.
  4. Everybody has always gone silent when I've posed the question. In interviews, do they tell the prospective boss that they've worked for a moron, so they're fated to make the same bad decisions the bad boss did?
  5. Oh for sure…he was leaking it everywhere when he was still in the role.
  6. Rick Hahn would even agree if you got him drunk enough to spill the beans.
  7. What’s funny is we now know with certainty that KW & Hahn hadn’t invested in the technology & analytics to have a successful player development function, yet many here seem to feel that’s all somehow Getz’s fault. We know the results from that function sucked during his tenure as its head…that is perfectly evident. And during that time I certainly blamed him for the poor results. But when seeing all the major infrastructure changes made since becoming GM, it’s easier to believe he was handcuffed by a pair of leaders above who have proven to be incompetent.
  8. Yeah, I don’t think scouting and signing a dude who would go on to be the consensus #1 prospect and all-star SS is the elephant in the room he thinks it is.
  9. I used to work with a guy named Carlos Rodriquez. We would always greet him by singing Viva Las Vegas but substituting his name for Viva Las Vegas.
  10. You realize as a long term teacher yourself you have certainly taught numerous criminals, including pedophiles. It's the law of large numbers over time.
  11. To be fair, the biggest moron of all still owns the team and is in charge.
  12. Glad to hear the Sox finally poaching productive organizations for talent! Maybe Jerry is finally staying out of the day to day.
  13. Fegan updated his piece with some clarity on the role Rodriguez is set to have with the Sox.
  14. If you taught some kid that turned into a pedophile, would you publicize that you taught the kid on your LinkedIn page? And would it somehow be your fault that the kid grew up to be a pedophile? You still aren’t making much sense here.
  15. Today
  16. It will fun to now shade every Sox transaction with Friedman/Rays-colored glasses from this point onwards. We did it with McKinven visit a vis Milwaukee players and Barfield on the ill-fated Mena deal. There will be the same debates behind every good and bad move depending on if you want to stake a position...just like the ubiquitous Hahn vs. KW inquisitions that went around in interminable circles.
  17. NO! Everything he does is s%*# or everything he does is awesome! There is no room in-between for independent rational thought. I thought you knew this.
  18. If it's so ridiculous, why is there no mention of it anywhere in his bio? Wander Franco was a generational talent, his biggest signing ever and the first $100+ million contract for the Rays. Obviously it wasn't Rodriguez's fault...anymore than Sherrone Moore's delfish individual actions can only be blamed on himself and not Harbaugh/UM. From having lived in that Latin American world, one can certainly see everyday the temptations and potential snares that are out there for young and rich athletes who transformed entire villages with unimagined wealth virtually overnight. But sometimes it's also just time to move on for both sides. A fresh start. The same thing kind of gut check reassessments happened in the Marlins' organization when Jose Fernandez passed away. There are a number of individuals who felt responsible then, all the way up to the owner's box. At any rate, Rodriguez would probably tell you the same exact thing after 16 years with the same organization. Time for a change and challenging new opportunity.
  19. You’ve never had a job where a moron was in charge and you couldn’t do anything about it?
  20. Not sure I can get too excited when super star Chris Getz was also our assistant GM and even his greatness couldn't overcome a tough situation.
  21. Get has surrounded himself with people who are more qualified than him. That's a good thing, especially if he listens to them, which he seems to be doing. Could bite him in the ass later, though, as there are several folks now who could easily replace him if Ishbia makes a change when he takes over.
  22. Just ignore him on this one…it was a ridiculous take and should probably be deleted to avoid giving it further attention.
  23. Just saw that he has also played some 1B outside of mostly RF. Problem is that he is out of options.
  24. I can’t say I know much of anything about this guy, but from the looks of it, it seems like he is more qualified to be the GM than Getz is.
