The Sox can still win games in spite of the players Getz acquired stinking up the joint. Not sure that’s a good way of judging those trades. Castillo has been worse with the Sox than he was with the Mariners — 6.45 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 5 starts. That’s awful. I don’t really understand your comments about the Rockies giving away Doyle for nothing, but that’s probably closer to what his true value was. He could have been a non-tender by the Rockies in the offseason.

Well, after the other results we're over 90% on ESPN and FGs. At this point I think we can go ahead and say only an epic choke would blow a playoff appearance. This group is better than that, they've shone it all year, and three in a row to finish the season against the Rockies will be a chance regardless of what happens prior.

We've got 4-6 guys in Kannapolis who could potentially lead the entire minors leagues in OPS? If so, Getz is a miracle worker. Castillo was worth -0.7 WAR when we got him. He was awful and he looks completely done. Not only did we give up a guy who was absolutely mashing, but we are on the hook for Castillo next season (minus Dominguez of course). I don't understand the mental gymnastics you are performing to defend this terrible trade. It's ok to admit Getz screwed the pooch.

Chris Getz's worst trades. Remembering, of course, that your criteria is "I can imagine the players we sent being Hall-of-Famers", and plugging an acquisition into the spot that was intended means a trade was a failure. LOL.

So let me get this straight. Mason Adams, a player who hasn't been good for 2 seasons, is now a "big price" to pay for a guy who "hasn't been good for 2 full seasons"? And Getz is showing he fucked up by using Doyle pretty much the way they were trying to use the guy he replaced, Everson Pereira? Colorado gave away Doyle for nothing. Mason Adams takes on the Braves in Atlanta tomorrow. I hope Adams shoves and positions himself as part of the next Rockies' core. Improving on his adequate 4 innings last time out will be paramount. I think it's off-the-charts great that in two seasons, Getz has created such a backlog of infield talent they're able to trade some away and repurpose the better bats to create a backlog of outfield talent. Oh, the Sox are 13-11 since the TDL. That's a .541 clip, which is better than their .531 pct they held on 8/3. Chris Getz's TDL have them playing better than they were before the TDL.
