March 23, 201016 yr With the baseball season about to start, Soxtalk.com will begin its first annual site cost donation drive. All donations will go towards the costs associated with hosting and running Soxtalk, SoxNet, and FutureSox. We will not be profiting on these donations. In the past, the site has always been funded out of my pocket with the help of advertising dollars. I will always continue to fund the site when needed, but as my life has changed, so have my priorities and while I still love Soxtalk and make it a priority, other costs have came into my life (Wedding & House) and I would like to reduce the amount of money I personally spend to keep running the site. In no way do I want anyone to feel obligated to donate and no matter what I will always continue to fund this site. I also want to thank everyone that is a member of Soxtalk because the site is nothing without you. We thank you all for the loyalty you have shown us over the years and I look forward to see what the site looks like in 2 more years when we turn 10!!!! The Paypal Email Address is: jason@futuresox.com Thanks again for your loyalty to the best Sox site on the web!!! Jason
March 23, 201016 yr Can you give us an idea the amount you're looking to raise? I am more than willing to make a contribution, but it would help to know what is reasonable as well as substantial enough to make a difference. I love this site, and want to keep it working.

March 23, 201016 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) The sites cost about $1500 a year to run between Server Costs, domain costs, and random software fees. So 150 members at $10 each would work. Or 300 at $5. Seems really doable. Then we can fire your lazy ass.
March 23, 201016 yr I can't donate right now, but with a new part-time job and my tax refund coming in the mail within the next 3 weeks, I will be able to make a donation shortly.
March 23, 201016 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) I can't donate right now, but with a new part-time job and my tax refund coming in the mail within the next 3 weeks, I will be able to make a donation shortly. And it would also seem that any donation you can receive would be welcomed, whether it's $1.27 to $1000. Even so, let me get my financial situation just a little more comfortable before I go spending money on a website. At some point in time, you have to ask yourself whether you'd want to eat or get on the internet.
March 23, 201016 yr Once I get a job (hopefully) around May/June, I should be able to donate around $25. But quick question...how do you send money via PayPal? Does it require a credit card?
March 23, 201016 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Once I get a job (hopefully) around May/June, I should be able to donate around $25. But quick question...how do you send money via PayPal? Does it require a credit card? You can hook up PayPal to your checking account, debit card or credit card.
March 24, 201016 yr Everyone has different resources and will give a different amount. I applaud ChiSoxFn for not going the route of doodads and gizmos for a premium membership like some sites do.
March 24, 201016 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Jason isn't used to getting money not stuffed in his Soxtalk G-string. But on the bright side, there is plenty of room for money in there, because there isn't much of anything else taking up space.

March 24, 201016 yr I'm shamefully broke right now, but when I'm a doctor I'll donate ALL my money to soxtalk (...not actually though)! Just hang in there another 5 years!
March 24, 201016 yr QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) I will donate a goat and some spices. Good plan. Keep Jason busy while we steal Soxtalk from him.
March 24, 201016 yr You should consider selling merchandise and using the proceeds for the site. I'd love a soxtalk beer mug. Or how about tshirts with our screennames on the back?

March 24, 201016 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) They did that a few years back and really couldn't make any money. A lot of people said it was a good idea, and then next to no one actually bought something. Maybe we should actually have a logo contest? That way we have something to put on shirts and hats?

Maybe we should actually have a logo contest? That way we have something to put on shirts and hats? Though the thong stock was probably wiped out by dougly.
