To anyone "qutting being a Sox fan"
A Mark Cuban would be awesome. The only thing better would of been if we got an owner like him in time for this winter's free agent class. Might not see anything like this again for 10 years.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
The Durham Bulls have given out bigger contracts than the White Sox. It's unreal how much this off-season has made me detest our ownership and management. They hoarded money these last few years and decided to stuff it in their pocket instead of spending it as they promised. Jerks.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
It seems everyone in the baseball world knew these guys were going for 300+ except the White Sox. Embarrassing. We need to start wearing paper bags over our heads at games.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Can we trade owners with the Phillies?

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
It's absurd for him to suggest they can't afford ONE high priced player. They still haven't spent more than $68 mil on a free agent. I'm tired of the excuses and coming in 2nd place. Losing offers mean nothing.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Seems a lot of people expect him to bounce back. Bryce Harper is the odds on favorite to win the NL MVP next year at the Westgate in Las Vegas. And he hasn't even signed with an NL team yet.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
This is the part I dont like reading: “We’ve got other options inside and outside the organization to get better. That will happen again in terms of pieces that can make us better. “It might not be a 26-year-old coming into free agency with what they have accomplished, but there will be ways to get this team better. " That makes it sounds like it's not going to be Harper. But after the craziness when they blew it on Machado, they probably would refuse to give any inkling they are on him even if they are.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Yeah kind of like Garpax. I'm going to be a pissed off Sox fan if/when he signs with another team. I wonder how ticket sales have been the last couple weeks....

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Same. I said I was on the fence with him, leaning towards he's alright...going in to this off-season. Unless they sign Bryce Harper, to me he is permanently cementing his legacy as a cheapass.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
One big free agent signing for the first time in 23 years is really asking that much?

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Jerry should sell the team if he wont spend any money. This is ridiculous.

Eloy opening day if he earns it
My God, leaving him down another year might open up a can of worms the Sox don't want opened. That's not an option.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
It's easy to guarantee something that you know won't be accepted. It means nothing to me unless they sign one of these guys.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
One thing I think would be certain. If the Sox are in on Harper (unlikely), that they would keep quiet about it. They wouldn't want to have another fan eruption if they miss out on him like they did with Machado. And I'd bet Rick Hahn got his ass chewed out by JR for setting the fanbase up for that Machado eruption.

Sullivan: No matter how much $ is spent, it's never enough for fans
The Sox were in tank mode the first couple years of the rebuild. It was right to not spend the last 2 winters. It's no longer the right thing to do.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
The reasons I think it will be San Diego are this: 1) Unless its a smoke screen, they've been reported to still being interested. Plus rumblings that maybe they made an offer 2) Best farm system in baseball + Manny Machado now. 3) Close to Harper's home in Vegas 4) Insanely good weather in San Diego 5) The only other team seemingly with real interest in Harper are the Phillies, who he may not want to sign with. I hope I'm wrong and the Sox surprise everyone with this signing. This franchise needs it. They need to stop running the White Sox like a small market team.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
I've been wondering since Black Tuesday if this horrible PR backlash would change the Sox minds on pursuing Bryce Harper. I still have the smallest glimmer of hope, but in the end, I think this is probably down to the Padres and Phillies. It sounds like he doesn't want to play for the Phillies - but will anyone come close with an offer? My guess is he ends up signing in San Diego.

Worst off-season ever?!?
I would say that yes, this is the worst offseason in my time as a Sox fan. Jerry Reinsdorf cemented his legacy in a negative way.

Who is available in 2020? Looking ahead to the future
Unless you live in a Neilsen home, not turning on the tv doesn't affect anything. And that's my plan at the moment. I'm ticked that they lied to us and are cheapskates. I plan on not going to the park this year, and just watching the games on tv. But we'll see....when Eloy comes up, it's going to be hard to not go to games. So I know I might cave.

Hahn on 670 Tonight
Good post. It's pathetic how little prospect depth the Sox have with all those losing seasons. Jerry turns 83 next Monday. You have to wonder how much longer he has left here. That could affect not only him, but his two stooges KW and Hahn.
-
Hahn on 670 Tonight
I'm proud of the way Sox fans have reacted to this all. I would of expected general indifference and shrugging, which would of been a green light to the Sox to keep up their lying, cheapskate ways. I think a message is being sent. And hopefully that continues in to the season with ticket sales. It's crazy when you think how a year or so ago Rick Hahn was hailed as a hero with the rebuild after some of the trades. And now look how he is viewed.

Grading Rick Hahn
I liked him until yesterday. I'll give him a D. The Quintana trade was a big win. Can't say too many other good things though.
-
Hahn on 670 Tonight
My disgust has not subsided one bit since yesterday. Hard to imagine it will anytime soon. They're lying cheapskates.

Goodbye Soxtalk
You're completely missing the point. This was a unique opportunity to add a 26yo superstar to the rebuild. It would of greatly increased the chances of the rebuild leading to a World Series eventually. It's not about next year. I'm surprised anyone here doesn't realize that.

RON IN 2019: Thinking of cheering for the Cubs next year
Ok I've been on board with just about every pissed off post today. But this is too much.
