  1. yeah, many understand regression to mean, "get worse", when it just means anomalies trending back towards average. Benintendi is regressing upwards towards a 100 OPS+ from below.
  2. Maybe he'll at least see 3000 pitches.
  3. I would have liked them to win one more in Minnesota, but a 2-4 road trip isn't horrible.
  4. They're trying to make sure he can jump up from the bench during exciting doubles and not hurt himself.
  5. Oh, sure. But I don't think they're swinging a major trade by next week. If somebody's Adrian Houser has an opt out deadline approaching, maybe they pick up that guy. But I don't think a fresh Hagen Smith walking 6.3 per 9 would fare much better against the Dodgers than Sandlin, at this point. It's still even too early for teams like Boston, the Astros or the Mets to throw in the towel.
  6. Up until that point, Meidroth had struck out and rolled into a ground out against Nola. Droth does have the correct platoon splits, so maybe Will saw that as a way to set up 2 runs on a single, which he got from Grichuk.
  7. This team, as assembled, isn't built to "win". There are some aspects that are good. But this year was still supposed to be about giving some prospects runway to see what they had. Sandlin, Schultz, Shane Smith, McDougal, Hagen Smith, Thorpe, Mason Adams, Ky Bush - they're the cavalry. I'd think Sandlin is out there until one of these guys pops, or somebody's minor league free agent becomes available.
  8. Or you can play for zero. Swinging for the fences doesn't guarantee a 5 run inning.
  9. I would think that a baseball player not carrying his favorite piano to 1st base with him legs that out. Dromo needs to run laps after the game.
  10. Okay, 2nd and 3rd for the meat of the order, Gonzo and Peters.
  11. They should do something about the flies around home plate Colson is trying to swat with his bat.
  12. Giants release Ryan Borucki. The dream is still alive.
  13. At this point in his career, Sandlin's "habit" is back to back, 4-run innings.
  14. Do you know what "regression" means? It's not a putdown of Peters to say he's playing above his underlying metrics. I'd bet he's not going to be a 5-WAR, .800 OPS player going forward. Right now he looks like an average major leaguer (2 WAR) on a heater. That's good.
  15. Ant-man running, not sure how he doesn't score on a double to the corner.

  17. He's been proving otherwise every time they face a lefty starter. I agree, he should always lead off against a RHP.
