Sun Times says it’s time for the Schrif to move on
WestEddy replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just that example. Tell me how the hand-placement works. Show video, explain it, make me understand, then leave it alone for the rest of the week. because I now know. Maybe once every couple of weeks bring it up when Vargas is having a game? But mentioning it every game became a meme. They do these quickie at-bat recaps after a seven-pitch strikeout or whatnot, and Stone's voiceover is, "first pitch strike, then misses high, fouls off that high fastball..." It would be more helpful if Stone walked us through the pitch sequence and why they called a curveball on 3-1 because another pitch wasn't working, or whatnot. I would learn so much about the game from early Hawk & Wimpy, and it continued even through the late innings of a blowout. In a lost season. Does Schriff even do that? Once they killed the pirate link mid-season, I only followed on GameDay until September. Explaining why a pickoff move works or pointing out the positioning of an infielder and why. That's why I keep watching when the team sucks. -

Benetti is special. He engaged Stone in ways that Hawk wouldn't, and Schrif doesn't seem to be able to. Stone is phoning it in, and maybe Schriffen has something to do with that. As you all know, I'll dig in and argue for the Sox employee I feel is being unfairly dragged, just because. And I kind of did that last year. I subscribed for this last full month, and while calling games for a god-awful, losing team in September must be the heaviest of lifts in the profession, Hawk & Wimpy had a banter that made the last weeks listenable. Schrif & Stone is like being driven to prison. I've tagged some commenters here, just because their insight is interesting. Stone is interesting, but I feel he needs to be prodded to a place where he's digging down and talking about the intricacies of the game. Benetti could do that. Schrif seems to be mostly limited to "two strikes, do you send the runner here?" -

Being boring and going back to the well for the same tidbit about a player in every at-bat isn't a difference to be celebrated. The White Sox diverse employee pool is something I am very proud of my team for. That's one area I feel would be adequately considered if they were to move on from Schrif. -

He has this lilt to his voice, where his tone curves up then down, like he's trying to force the excitement, brag about a solo HR to break up a shutout, 7-1. He brings nothing to the broadcast. The facts and insight, any of us could read off of a sheet. Benetti has the voice, knowledge, can speak to the moment. He's corny, but I found him very listenable. Schriffen is none of that. -
Ramos was 1st added to the 40-man on November 15th, 2022, so they used options in 2023, 2024 and 2025. He will be out of options for 2026. That's on Hahn's skittishness of guys being taken out of high-A ball in the Rule 5.

How do we say goodbye to a team worth two series wins?
-
3. They've won 8 of 16 series since the ASB.

Series win!!

These last few innings have the energy of the 8th and 9th in mid-spring training.

That was some near mix-up by Alexander and Mead. Detroit, Philadelphia and the Rays apparently don't teach fundamentals. I suppose those organizations should be cleaning out their development for guys who will have every prospect playing with the wisdom of a 39-year-old vet when they hit the bigs.

I guess he'll be available once Ishbia takes over and fires everybody in the organization. LOL.

So much for that notion...

Especially the ones who don't use a leash, then act like you reacted badly to their dog jumping on you.

I see a weight room in Curtis Mead's winter.

He is out of options after this year. They could DFA him at the end of spring training if he doesn't make the team, or they might just want to clear him before the winter to have the 40-man space. There's about 2-3 guys on the 60-day IL they'll want to protect, and about 4 who will be Rule 5 eligible this winter, who at least deserve consideration for a protective roster spot. Ramos did work hard, but he doesn't have the track record of acing each level like Sosa does. Ramos might be in the same boat as Fletcher, who had his big shot and couldn't take advantage. Guys like Meidroth, Teel and Quero did. It's good to say that the Sox might be moving up to the type of organization that doesn't have the luxury of waiting for guys like Ramos or Elko to take a year to figure things out.

Kopech trying to screw the White Sox by walking every Rockie he faces.

...And that loss drops the Rays back under .500.

Altavilla will not be eligible for the claiming team's playoff roster since he wasn't on that team before September 1.
