Yermin Mercedes? -
The Sox have been shut out once in the last 16 games. Extending this current trend through the season, they'd get shut out 16 times, total.

I'm beginning to think that promoting Ramos was a good move. -
Baltimore will be brutal. Maybe not as bad as what Norfolk did to Charlotte the opening week, but cringey.
-
It's an adage that no team is as bad as they look during a horrible cold streak, and they're not as good as they look during a hot streak. If Chris Flexen continues to pitch like this, he is a good SP option, and should get starts until he's traded. Gavin Sheets' bat should be in the lineup, and if they're not going to bench Vaughn or Eloy, then RF it is. He would be the answer in RF if he got a lot better. I'm just relieved this team doesn't look like they're going to break the loss record, and some of the rentals they may have intended to flip are looking like baseball players.
-
Sorry for the confusion. I don't think anybody thought this was a .500 team, myself included. (I predicted 68 wins.) The way they're playing right now (albeit, against the limping Rays and Cards) is what I thought the team would look like, picking off 2-3 wins a week, not historic losing and scoring deficits.
-
The Sox are a .500 team in the last 12 games. A lot of Rays and Cardinals in there, but I think this was sort of the team we envisioned in ST.

Everybody here loves to amass shame porn. Now Cease is Verlander, when in November, he was Erick Fedde.
-
Then who were the Cubs offering?
-
Both Remillard and Sosa were in the mix for the 2B job, I assume, and they didn't step up.
-
Yeah, but a random SP doesn't have the pedigree of a first rounder who, if fixed, is a major trade piece. It's like walking out of a casino, and declaring that you'd rather have your $100 back. Getz took a gamble on Soroka and Lopez, and still has a couple of bullpen arms to dream on.
-
Then you would be paying Bummer $7m, AND another 2B $4 million and another starting pitcher $3 million. What Getz did, basically, was trade $7 million in payroll for 4 40-man spots. In that, they got 2 utility infielders, 2 bullpen arms, and a lotto ticket on Soroka snapping back.

Only if you believe that Alex Spies is more promising than Jared Shuster, or Popeye Rodriguez has more prospect than Braden Shewmake.
-
Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa

Then I wouldn't imagine they were offering much more beyond a Shuster/Gowens/Shewmake package.

If Fedde calms down and becomes what Clevinger was last year - just a steady guy who can take the ball every 5th day over the last 2 months, paired with a reliever, he could get a guy. He's not Giolito, and there's no myth of Lynn. But if Kenyan Middleton could get Juan Carela, and if Kendall Graveman could bring back Korey Lee, a serviceable Erick Fedde could at least bring back a live bat who could field his position.
-
Now Bryan Ramos is the person the opposing pitcher pitches around.
-
Maybe the White Sox are waiting for Jared Walsh to get a hit at AAA so they can put him on the 40-man and bring him up.
-
TA7 was still seeing stars, so he couldn't really break away and take another punch to his glass jaw.
-
That's a 4-game hitting streak, and a 6 game on-base streak for Lopes.

Treatment PlanFirst aid for shock includes having the person lie on their back, raising their legs to help blood return to the heart, stopping any bleeding, covering them with a coat or blanket to ensure warmth, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), if needed.

Swinging on the 3-0. I wonder if TLR's going to give him a phone call tonight.

If I drop the amount of qualifying PAs down to 10, Sheets is 11th in the game in fWAR. His defense there is still terrible. He's probably really just a DH. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?lg=all&season=2024&season1=2024&ind=0&type=8&month=36&sortcol=21&sortdir=default&pageitems=100&qual=10&pagenum=1

His RF defense wipes out any offensive contributions. If he were parked at 1B/DH, he probably would have accumulated more.
