  1. That would be my guess, but he also plays RF, so maybe.
  2. Players generally pick teams they think will try to trade for them, then the player has more control over their situation. They don't pick teams that won't trade for them.
  3. I guess this is appropriate?
  4. There are those on Twitter who post a "we should take a chance on this guy" tweet for every DFA, but Justyn-Henry Malloy is an interesting flier. But they're getting to the point where they're going to have to cut dudes just to finish their off-season plan. Tigers Designate Justyn-Henry Malloy For Assignment - MLB Trade Rumors
  5. One thing I find gob-smacking is that, not only have real trade rumors dried up, but the BS posters seem to have dried up, too. Like, whitesoxdave, and bartolo's colonoscopy and that whole crew aren't even feeding BS trades into the ether. Gimme the Sunday Boston Globe Peter Gammons' column.
  6. I heard that Murakami was putting out feelers to see if there were any Japanese speakers at SoxTalk.
  7. They wouldn't have had to have been players in the deep end if they had a flow of talent coming from the minors. That was chronic, and how they'd end up starting the JB Shucks of the world. But yeah, they didn't make the big dives.
  8. And I see why you're getting nervous. I mean, you will have to become a whole new avatar once the Sox start spending above the poverty line. It's a scary prospect. We're all here for you when you have to make that adjustment.
  9. Then I guess I should get busy posting "I'm okay if they sign him or don't - there's good arguments for either" over and over and over on every string, just to hammer home the narrative that I'm good either way.
  10. ...or, maybe I don't wrap my entire identity around "Chris Getz sucks" or "the move I just thought of MUST happen".
  11. Am I Goliath? You think very highly of me.
  12. Also, I would imagine that the Bears would do as poorly (politically) in Indianapolis as they do in Springfield. Most of Illinois hates Chicago, and I can't imagine Indiana is any different. Besides, they already have a football team.
  13. Was I against? A) I didn't think he was in their plans or budget. Now he appears to be. B) All I've heard is he is a big strike out risk. They want a LHH 1B. He also plays 3B, so they have the ability to rotate with him. Signing him would be cool, signaling the end of their time in the wilderness, perhaps. Not signing him wouldn't anger me. A small bunch are playing the same game they did with Elko and such, like, they have 40-man space, so why not make a catastrophic $100M mistake? Getting on the map would be fun. I'm dubious about him being part of the next core. They could always slap a QO on him if he's good enough to opt out. You originally assured everyone the Sox couldn't sign him, and now that he appears to be in their range, you're trying to "save face" and poor mouth the kid. LOL.
  14. I think the "story" is in the video, but it's all the same slop. Bloggers and Podcasters repeating the same rumor followed by, "it can certainly happen", or "this is a move they should make".
  15. Why are you talking about Marte in response to a convo about what deals the Rays and White Sox made together?
  16. Did the White Sox somehow obtain Marte in a deal we haven't heard about, yet?
  17. waivers Brandon Eisert Mike Vasil Jesse Scholtens to Rays Tristan Peters trades Jankowski sold to Rays Thaiss for Dru Baker Tristan Gray sold to Houser for Mead/Davitt/Peoples Gomez/Wilson for Pereira/Murray
  18. The other day, I guessed a 3-year deal with a player opt-out. That's probably not feasible. I'd love for the Sox to sign him, just for the marketing opportunity.
  19. I've read that every Japanese hitter has issues hitting velo once the come to America. They're professional hitters. They adjust. The strikeouts concern me. I don't think they need Murakami as a core piece.
  20. I agree about the upcoming election season, and 2028 looms, also. Newsom let the A's and Raiders leave.
  21. It doesn't help anybody for the White Sox to be ruled out. Murakami to WSox helps Murakami drive up what little interest he has. It lets O'Hearn know the Sox have other options. It keeps fans refreshing Twitter and listening to insipid sports mumble programs where everything is possible. I still think an off-season of O'Hearn, Bassitt (or reasonable facsimile), Bleday (orf) and some sort of leverage bullpen dude would be an insane out-of-the-park off-season compared to what we've been prepped for.
