  1. I would be glad to watch Thompson over Engel. Tyler could turn the Colorado Springs Sky Sox into contenders.
  2. Time for the Sox weekly win before Verlander et al.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:21 AM) How many years did he drag a 5 time SB champ on in an ancient, substandard, shared Candlestick Park? The 49ers owner is the son. Not the same guy. The father was not going to be approved because of the commissioner.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 04:30 PM) Interesting. Twins would be coming back from Puerto Rico to play one or two games, then have to fly down to Tampa. High of 45 and no rain. Expos-Marlins 2003 at Sox Park.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 08:14 AM) Yea I’m sure Debartolo would have totally built a stadium with his own money Debartolo would not have been approved due to certain alleged gangster affiliations.
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 09:31 PM) Whatever the case, not impressed with his managing. Yea the team doesn't quit, that's good, but so many other red flags with him. Right now it doesn't matter though. We have seen no evidence that Rikki is a savvy manager. We are just supposed to assume that because he works well with young players. I would give more props to Paul Molitor, Gardy and even Alex Cora to name a few. I would have even rolled the dice on AJ and felt better about it. A manager needs an identity, self-confidence and a strong personality to succeed. Rikki and Robin seem to have little. We could have hired Dave Martinez who was long available. Maybe they just want a role playing team guy for manager. I remember that Robin and Mike Matheny were hired at the same time, both inexperienced. Enough said.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 03:43 PM) Of course, people really bought into him being long term? There is no evidence that Rent-o-ria is anything but a good teacher of young players. None.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 10:02 PM) After 10 games the season is ovah? They are 2.5 games back. Great time out there. Someone counted 947.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:32 PM) Are we all aware that pre-Draft Gio was a lock to go #1 until he needed TJS? He's lost a bit of velocity since he was 18 but I'm not sure we all realize this (Not that it has to do with this post) If there was no Kopech, Gio would be an ace as he still has ace potential (The TOR Broadcast also compared Lopez to Severino) I don't see Gio as a reclamation. Floyd had a lot more downs than ups. Might be available.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 07:14 PM) Very sad to hear this news. He was, as you said, a “terrific Sox announcer”, and was so during a tumultuous transition period in the Sox TV/radio booth during the early ‘80s. As the “new ownership” group back then was busy ushering out Harry Caray & Jimmy Piersall and replacing them with Don Drysdale & the Hawk, McConnell represented some consistency during that timeframe, while also delivering a truly top-notch broadcast, both on TV and radio. Unfortunately for McConnell, similar to Drysdale & Hawk, his talents were buried during his years with the Sox due to the very ill-fated “SportsVision” experiment. Not as many people heard him as they should have. Harry quit because he did not want to be on a pay TV broadcast. He became a beer salesman on WGN. Harry never impressed me as an honorable person. Nor was he a fan of Einsdorf.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 03:27 PM) Rondon is huge Rondon was 300 at one point but I really don't want to guess his weight. He was dismissed for lack of effort.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 01:30 PM) I?€™ve never seen a team fail to drive men in with based loaded 0 or 1 out more than our White Sox. Sphincter sfactor.
  13. Wondering how the Sox knew I only tuned in to listen to some nitwit visiting the TV booth instead of following the game.
  14. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 04:05 PM) Although I agree that I don't like the season starting early as it did this year, this year is also a freak occurrence. Our average high nowadays is supposed to be about 55. Now by no means is that "baseball" weather, however having temperatures TWENTY degrees below average for a two week period doesn't generally happen. It sucks, but can't really do much about it. 21F at 546 am Sat. I don't think so--
  15. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 10:23 AM) Of course, we should extend Avi and Jose. Considering all the bone headed mistakes this franchise has made, so what if we overpay slightly. Avi and Jose must stay in my view. Some people want to keep trading our best pieces for more prospects. Love Sanchez but he is more of a supersub in my view which is plenty valuable. Time to mix and match a couple of bullpen pieces on the Charlotte Shuttle.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:29 AM) I know it's early and that cold players will heat up and hot players will cool off but I was thinking something similar today. Moncada has power so maybe sandwich him between Abreu and Davidson in the order. Timmy had a rough year last year so I take his stint in the lead-off with a grain of salt and would like to see him and his speed get another shot batting first in the line up. Sanchez's switch hitting, capability of drawing a walk could make for a solid #2 hitter. If Yoan could be Jorge Orta with a good glove I would be happy.
  17. Odds are the Sox wil use 31 pitchers this year. The bullpen and defense are downers. I just want to see good baseball.
  18. QUOTE (Knickname @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 04:45 PM) Anyone know why mlb shut down all of their message boards? Was the mlb White Sox board the last to be shut down? Hey Knick they were all shut down at once. Cubs and Angels previously shut down. Too much hateful politics and trolls.
  19. Can't complain about six runs. The rest is on the pitchers and defense.
  20. Fifty years on: Opening Day April 10, 1968. Season was delayed one day for MLK funeral. Widespread civil unrest in Chicago. Attendance about 7,700. A significant social/ cultural moment for the White Sox attendance challenges. I believe nine home games were played in Milwaukee.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 05:42 PM) The billionaire owners + league silly. They for sure would agree to each non-dome cold weather team spending hundreds of millions of dollars a piece to magically retrofit stadiums with massive domes vs. pushing the league start date back 1 week or having no cold weather home teams What a silly proposal. Not worth discussing.
