7/25 GT - Twins at Sox - 1:10pm
Richie replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2020 Season in Review
Moncada continues to get better and it arouses me very much. He's been phenomenal with two strikes so far. Fouling off pitches, working a walk, and hitting a bomb yesterday. Kid is seriously one of the best players in the game, at this moment, IMO. I love watching him. -

It sounds more like he's hearing directly that the analytics department has an issue with Ricky and his lineup. Then, the part about it being to do with his lineups not being optimal is sort of assuming. I think he's just picking his words carefully. -

This Dobnak guy actually has some impressive numbers at every level. Including his 5 starts (9 appearances) last year in the bigs. Not your typical Uber driver. With all of these studly right handed bats in the lineup for Minnesota. I'm a bit nervous about today. Hopefully Kuechel can do what he does best and keep the ball on the ground. -
Opening Day Game Thread: Twins @ White Sox, 7:10 PM CT

Ozzie Guillen and Ozzy Osbourne should have a talk radio show together. "Ozzie and Ozzy in the morning" If they try really hard they might be able to finish one sentence each per show that listeners actually understand. The catch will be that they somehow understand each other beautifully and have been waiting all their lives for the other one to come along. -

He only had one. One was a cross up. -
Watching the White Sox win the world series this year would feel different than 2005. It will be looked at differently. It's a legit win, though, IMO. Every team is playing under the same rules.
-
Sometimes his banter tries too hard. Overall, I like him, though.
-
Nah, they couldn't really just do that.
-
I mean, none of them were very good BEFORE 2000 and Parque was the youngest at 25. Had two full seasons under his belt. The rest were 29 or older. It's not like these were kids who had their careers taken away after a promising start in the 2000 season. That starting staff wasn't good. He makes some very real points. I mean, league average ERA in 2000 was 4.77. The White Sox staff was 4.66. Even in career years, that rotation was quite unimpressive.
-
How's that? Seems like a retaliation move.
-
Thanks, yeah. I should have read the thread before posting a reaction/question.
-
I have to think this is a legitimate personal issue. Right? Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense.
-
Of course, that team was fun as hell. First "good" White Sox team of my young life at the time which I was old enough to really experience. I went to a TON of games that year with my father. Including Game 2 of the ALDS vs Seattle. That series was not very fun. lol

Ex-teammate alleges Grandal took roids in front of teammates
Richie replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
HGH laced gummies? I think this guy is socially ill-equipped and Grandal cracked a joke while eating gummies. Somebody may have knocked him for eating candy before a game and Grandal's crack back at it was "Don't worry. They're laced with HGH. Ha!" "Literal Cody" missed the joke. -
And way behind the countries on top of the board. Belguim has twice as many per million as we do. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/ This also isn't including countries like China, Russia, etc. who are sure to be cooking their books. Notice that all of the countries towards the top are UK, France, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, etc. You know... some of the nations with the most traffic, industry, etc. Considering all of the traffic that comes in and out of this country. We're doing pretty damn good. And that's not how it works. We're experience a bit of a spike now but that's what it is... a spike. We will spike will some others slow. Then, we will slow while others spike. At the end of the day; this damn thing got here in December. From there, it was on its own. Perhaps it's not safe for all of us to be rushing back to work. There is/was going to be a spike WHENEVER we go back. I don't think people understand the point of the shutdown. It was never to eradicate the virus. We will ALL be exposed eventually. It's to space out the spikes so we have the ability to care for everyone and hospitals/doctors don't get over run. It's working. People honestly are under the impression that quarantining/shutting down was supposed to permanently flatten and get rid of this. It was never intended to do that. We're trying to space out the waves until we get a vaccine.
-
It was handled poorly. Relative to whom? We don't even BEGIN to approach the top of the list in COVID deaths per million inhabitants. Which developed nation didn't see this virus spread? I'm not sure what could have been handled better. The shit came here and it spread. Like viruses do. We shutdown. The spread slowed. We reopened (had mass protests) and there has been a spike. Not to mention, since re-openings, the economy has begun a recovery. If it's safe for me to work. If it's safe for my girlfriend to work. If it's safe for my family and friends to work. It's more than safe enough for athletes in their 20's and early 30's to play baseball. With far better testing capabilities, medical attention, and restrictions than the rest of us will have.
-
Bingo. Myself, my friends, family, etc. We all work in offices, factories, etc. I have two doctors in the family and even they only make a fraction of what a ton of these guys do. These guys also have all kinds of restrictions, daily testing, and world class doctors walking by their side. There's a ton of people who are 100% okay with average Joe's and even themselves going back to work. Yet, they'll also say "Ha! You cannot have a sports season! That is insane!".... uh... what?
-
No, it really isn't. Not when you buy an extremely nice house in an extremely nice neighborhood like these guys do (like we would all do if given the opportunity). Have multiple kids going to the best schools, playing sports, paying for their college, etc. Guys also have aspirations to open businesses and do all sorts of things after retirement. Just because 8-9 mil might pay for your life. It does not mean it will pay for someone else's.
-
As mentioned... the average is skewed by the top few percent of salaries. 17-18 mil before being chopped in half by taxes/agent also ain't set for life. Not when you earn that in your 20's. Not at all.
-
One hot streak versus one cold streak could make or break the season. That makes it kind of exciting. Games start really mattering immediately.
-
I honestly think this is fun. We've all seen plenty of your typical baseball seasons. We will all see plenty more of them. It's something different this year. Try to enjoy it. It will go back to normal, don't worry.

White Sox select LHP Garrett Crochet at #11, also, he signed
Richie replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's not really about the arm slot/delivery. It's about the position of the elbow. That upside down W is what's stressful. I have no idea if he has that. Maybe he does. -
This is exactly how negotiations happen. Each side starts out far apart, they act outraged at the other party's offer, compromises are slowly conceded to one another and the two sides slowly inch together. In the midst of this process, a multitude of times, one party or the other will storm away feigning outrage and exclaim that the deal has fallen apart. "It will never happen! They're totally unreasonable!". We're already seeing the compromises happen. Honestly, they're not even being slick with their bluffs and every time the public buys into it. lol
-
This post/opinion is so 5 days ago. lol. The owners are caving. There's probably going to be a deal this week, IMO.
-
This is starting to look f**ked. Very sad.
