  1. That is dirt cheap. Like literally Harrisons money. I know he has his flaws but for real if you aren't going to make a serious offer for any of the legit LH savages on the market, you should at least have a decent contingency plan. They've got nothing new against RHP. Not Miller, not Joc, not Rosario, not even Tony friggin Kemp. They are up shit creek without a paddle.
  2. Does this mean they are going to circle back to Conforto now that they are backed into a corner or does this mean you just would have rather had the clown 1B platoon in RF?
  3. I thought someone said the Kimbrel thing was irrelevant...like even if they moved him they weren't gonna use the savings to make another big signing.
  4. Pal said we are unwilling to go to 4 years. Meanwhile Plan B,C and D are now gone. The FO and good, thoughtful, realistic planning go together about as well as peanut butter and WD-40.
  5. That will be fun if they get both LH savages and we don't get shit. Lol
  6. Joc is gone. Assuming therefore we will go with the clown 1B platoon in RF now. LOL
  7. Opt out? Sure they will insist on that. 3 years? No. Schwarber got 4/80. Unproven Suzuki 5/85, Bryant 7/182. Boras is going to make sure his client gets a big payday which necessarily requires a minimum of 4 years plus the option to get out and get alot more if he plays well. If Chicago didn't like whatever 4 year deal that was proposed to them before, they sure as hell will not like what it will become now that Conforto is the last good true OF on the market in light of the other offers. There are still several teams that could use him. He's done as a serious realistic target for us. It's over.
  8. Exactly. They can't get rid of Vaughn now. A very good cost controlled 1B for 6 years (esp after they get last year back with a AAA stint) shouldn't be moved for a rental SP.
  9. PSA: So that we are all clear, notorious cheapskate Monfort is willing to pay 7/182, but JR is apparently unwilling to pay something like 4/88. Lulz
  10. I dont want to make excuses for RH but I suspect it's also important to keep in mind that he's gotten his wings clipped. I think awhile back Harold alluded to something that happened. And after that we see JR overruling him on TLR and then TLR being the main guy now he listens to. So RH has to deal with internal budgets set by JR and also he knows a piece of the pie needs to be set aside for TLRs reliever fetish, so that creates an additional strain on the available resources to address needs. He has made some dumb choices to be sure and everyone hates the condescending lawyer talk and seat at the table BS but when he was planning out the contention stage, and how the financial flexibility would be used I doubt he planned on having to deal with a rival power source (besides KW) thwarting his plans and JR siding with that rival.
  11. I think Ron actually likes Abreu quite a bit. It's just that he likes getting a rise out of people even more.
  12. 4 for something like 88 (I don't know what their AAV ask is) is definitely reasonable if there are no one sided opt outs. WTF is their problem? Do they think Michael Conforto is not going to get a 4 yr deal from someone? If they won't offer him a 4 yr deal, he's gone. He's absolutely 10000 percent gone. He will get that from someone for sure maybe even 5 years. They'll give relievers 3 years but a savage LH OF bat won't get 4?
  13. Appreciate the info. If the Sox have a hard and fast number for Conforto, they won't get him. Boras doesn't capitulate. We should just move onto Joc for a year and hope Colas is ready in 23. I really don't want a clown show of 1B playing RF next year. It sucks but it is what it is.
  14. If we got into a 4-5 team bidding war for these pitchers I wouldn't want to win it. The price would be beyond exorbitant.
  15. Sounds like either way the preferred RF choice wouldn't be coming. I guess it depends on which of the three is traded and what's the return.
  16. That 1MLB guy says Montas and Manaea both to NYY is close. Not sure how credible he is
  17. If in fact they are truly priced out on Conforto, then I would do the trade as well (despite misgivings about TB) and have him in a platoon with Engel, so half the time we'd be getting elite offense and half the time elite D in RF. Getting Kimbrel off the books in the same transaction would be nice. Ofcourse, after sucking with us he would then go back to being a super elite closer with TB because of their magic analytics elixir but that's beside the point. And then next year evaluate where Colas is. If he's ready to play put him in RF and have Meadows and Eloy switch off on LF/DH. I just wish I knew if we were really in the game with Conforto or if we're just playing games to show we "tried" like before.
  18. I think it will be highly amusing to see Cleveland outbid us for the Plan E option in RF.
  19. Conforto or whoever doesn't matter at this point. TOR will steamroll everyone in the AL. Nice job holding your dick in your hand Rick while other teams raced past you.
  20. IMO it will be Joc or Rosario, whichever will take a 1 yr deal.
  21. Damn. One savage gone. Suzuki at 70 and Schwarber at 80 means Confotto at like 120. We will no doubt tap out at this price. Joc comin
  22. I dont think it's a surprise to anyone at this point, fathom. I think we have to accept that they are who we thought they were. This is not even remotely surprising.
