Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Ofcourse no one is going to offer anything for him at 16m. At this point, someone might bite if we ate half the money, but there still would be no real return and an extra 8m to play with won't really address any of the core needs. Maybe it would have opened up room for the 1 yr/6m Joc deal when he was out there but that's about it. Sounds like they will just have to hope he rebuilds his value during the season and other relievers get hurt. Settling for their 4th choice at 2B is comically bad but very much in line with this franchise's seemingly endless ability to step on their own dicks. Miller would have been nice but I understand they probably didn't want to give out a 2 year deal to a short term bridge/bandaid. And I agree with Jimmy that we need to keep Sheets at DH right now due to the lack of balance. Ofcourse, this means the very few trade chips we have for a SP gets even thinner. They are caught in a tight spot where one problem exacerbates another and there's really no good options unless u really want to clean out whatever is left of the high end of the prospect system and that would be bad for the future.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Hahn has a comfy job. He got his wings clipped by JR for reasons unknown (Harold implied awhile back something happened but didn't tell us what) but he's still cashing checks and prolly has very good job security (even if TLR stole his juice) since this will likely be 3 playoff appearances in a row and they seem to like how he performs in PR settings especially when he uses thoughtful and lawyerly words to make stupid decisions sound like they were thought out and well considered when we know it's just either one guy being cheap or another dude thinking its 1990. He does have to take the arrows in the media for TLRs stupid decisions and JRs cheapness but in the big picture it's a small price to pay for a gig and paycheck like that.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
For a second there I was getting excited when I read Stone's note but now I think your post more accurately sums up the dynamics of what is really going on. There is still likely no intent to meaningfully add before the season but they had Stone put that out there to encourage fans as a way of making up for TLR's tone deaf fuck up. "They're still hard at work burning the midnight oil guys....now something may not materialize until the deadline or even till next year but they are working to make it better.....no really!"

This is promising. Maybe like someone noted they are opening up 40 man slots for an imminent move.

OF Help at last!! White Sox acquire Haseley from Phils
Meadows is worth 11.1m in surplus value according to that mlbtrade site. It would be tough to get him looking at what we have in the minors if you assume guys like Colas, Vera, Montgomery and Kath are untouchable. Kimbrel has -1 value so even if you added 6m, it's nowhere near enough and TB wants a low payroll.

OF Help at last!! White Sox acquire Haseley from Phils
Certainly better than the status quo. I assume the price on Meadows was too high since Portillos said they were checking in on him again. I'm glad they did something at least.

Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
In the words of the great American philosopher John Madden: "Boom"
-
Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
They didn't learn a damn thing. They were already sending out state media yesterday to write shit about how it could happen to anyone in the field even though Vaughn totally lacks the range and athleticism for the position and he is going to have to dive to make plays other real OFers could make without incurring those risks. The fact that Pravda on 35th was out in full force should tell you that the team remains firmly entrenched in its tone deaf echo chamber of delusion. Penny wise and pound foolish remains the order of the day.

Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
That's not bad at all. Hopefully we learned our lesson not to play 1B in RF. Address the fucking position and stop playing games.

Andrew Vaughn hurts hip pointer, out 1-2 weeks per White Sox
Maybe if he's out a few weeks they can use this as an excuse to keep him in the minors for a few weeks to "work out the rust and work on OF defense" when he comes back to get that extra year back. /reaching for a positive

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
A part of Jack Parkman just died.
-
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
He's at least a real OFer rather than trotting out a 1B in the OF. Obviously we don't care about defense anyway so might as well add a good LH bat.

Andrew Vaughn hurts hip pointer, out 1-2 weeks per White Sox
This. Even like a terminal hip necrosis or whatever would be met with shit like "well this is why we resigned the Legend." They'll strain their AC joint patting themselves on the back for resigning UT players when TOR are signing and trading for killer savages. FML

Andrew Vaughn hurts hip pointer, out 1-2 weeks per White Sox
But they're not gonna move him until they get something or at least have the other team eat all the money to save face. They're praying some team gets hit with major bullpen injuries meanwhile we still have huge holes they haven't addressed. F your pride FO, get him off the damn roster ASAP.

After reviewing it further you are correct.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Ugh....you're right. I went on baseball trade values and Lux was worth 15.5m. Kimbrel was -1 and 6m of cash is net of 5m. Still 10m short.
-
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
We are all talking about Bellinger but since independent analysts seem to be confirming that there is good reason for those fluff pieces about Colas and since the Sox are still fixated on financial/budget issues why don't we just pivot to Lux. He should be more affordable than Bellinger. He also makes no money, has a ton of control, and could play 2B/RF (depending on where Vaughn is placed) and is LH and has no place to play in the loaded LAD lineup. Send them Kimbrel and 6-7m and maybe like a Dahlquist or something.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Someone should mail him some kneepads. He could use it for how often he sucks ownership/FO off. I get that it's his job but it still pisses me off. And the smugness and attitude is disgusting.
-
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I agree.....at the very least they should have gotten a 1 yr LHH bridge player with power like Joc. It was only 6m. And that was the bare minimum to address the need but they still stepped on their own dick and couldn't even do that. Fucking pathetic

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Ofcourse, prolly early 2023 if he keeps developing once they secure the extra year.
