  1. .858 OPS in 82 games, can play some CF in needed. I guess we can do worse.
  2. Would have hoped they could convince Zobrist for on last run. He'd be a solid piece on the bench, and platoon for RF. Hell, start at 2B out the gate.
  3. Did not expect him getting less than 2 years guaranteed, this makes me like the acquisition even better (I like the contract more than the pitcher). If he burns out you can easily dispose of him and keep moving.
  4. For teams like the Sox, Twins, Indians a $20 million + AAV deal going south is crippling.
  5. Robert has the ceiling of an Elite ML player, reason why you take that long term risk. Can't say Madrigal has a ceiling as high.
  6. Alright man, you win. Congrats.
  7. Again, you're missing my point. Looking at this as future high leverage situations.
  8. No he's not. Ceshek has had the better career and was on our local TVs for the past 2 seasons. Need to look at this more not for what they've done, but for what you expect to get from them for the two seasons (assuming they can be had for a two year deal which after the Harris deal doesn't look likely).
  9. OK, this whole Ceshek closing thing is old news folks. I'm talking going foward. Hudson feared being a closer. The Nats trusted him in high leverage situations including closing down the stretch and he succeeded. I have a feeling he will take off from there and be a solid high leverage guy for whoever gets him. Ceshek is just washed up junk at this point. I wouldn't trust that guy to pitch for me in the 8th inning. Sorry.
  10. Yes, that's exactly the reason.
  11. Hudson could check in as a closer in an emergency.
  12. Oh God, Steve Cishek sucks. Send out the kids for all I care, don't overpay for that side-arming junk.
  13. Guy tops out at what, 91-92? No gracias for 3 years.
  14. That's a pretty cool shout out from a media bigfoot! James Fox >>>>>>> WSD
  15. This is why he's my sleeper this year.
  16. "The money will be spent."
  17. There's just something special about having your full squad on opening day. The Sox have not given me that much of a roster to bail on an OD tailgate party to get into the stadium early for the intros. I think this might be the first time since probably 2006 I plan to do it.
  18. They did bring up a good point, with the talent now maybe the lineups will no longer be an issue.
  19. They had to give Bruce his token spot to pretty much add nothing but a bad cell phone line connection.
  20. Not if you really lay down an aggressive deal. Like 8 years $150 million plus.
  21. "Sox are gonna be good" by Passan just made my third leg move a little.
  22. Sox doing this right. I applaud them. You have Eloy, TA, and now Robert locked in beyond Arbitration and Free Agency. Real smart business.
  23. Let's be careful what we wish for in hooking ourselves to a multi year reliever deal just for the sake of "feeling better" about our bullpen. Kelvin Herrera made many folks "feel real good" about the bullpen last Winter. Bullpens are crap-shoots, just need to hope to get lucky with a bunch of the unknown arms down in the Farm to supplement those we think are already known commodities from last season.
  24. Imagine not, since both play Soccer for Defense. A platoon would be happening even for late inning defense featuring Engle or Garcia. Like it or not.
