Astros and Sox are on completely opposite ends of their rebuilds. Let's get there first before applying this approach on ignoring prospects.
-
I'm not saying any of those guys are sure bet. Just saying that rather than handcuffing yourself to a bad defensive corner OF contract for 4 years, keep your options open for down the line. Take it one year at a time and do an Encarnacion type signing if you feel you need another bat. It buys you another year in development to see if any of those 4 guys mentioned finally blows up in the minors to something you can work with here in the big league level. I think we, Sox fans, need to take a step back here and look at the big picture and understand that to build long term success we have to continue drafting/and developing along with all the good that's happening right now at the big league level and free agency. Hopefully we get a breakout down in the farm from one of those guys mentioned.
-
Indeed. And it keeps you from blocking the pipeline in guys like Adolfo, Basabe, Rutherford, and Gonzalez.
-
With the added 26th man, no reason why you couldn't carry Engel as your late inning D replacement and PR off the bench. You will be having to pull Eloy and/or Mazara for Defense most nights.
-
Seriously. We need to get passed this.

I was just about to say this...

Keuchel to Sox, 3 years, 55.55 million; 4th year team option

Phil Rogers still has a press credential and covers baseball. Amazes me. -

Maybe staying in Chicago helps his decision. -

Ben Zobrist is a guy I'd like to kick the tires on. Early season 2B holder for when Madrigal is ready. Good veteran with high OBP%. Then you can use him as the split guy with Mazara . -

No it's not. Kopech and Cease. If their elite stuff plays out, we are going to be hard to beat. -

"The money will be spent." Very close for that silliness to be put to rest, right? -

This beats the Price craziness. We give up nothing here and pay less than we would have had we made that crazy trade scenario. -
Anything NBC5 White Sox , Garfein, McGuffey posts, I move right past it just like I do "insiders" like WSD, and the rest of the Twitter trolls. In fact, anytime any of those guys spit out a name it almost 100% convinces me it ain't happening. All the Sox moves tend to come out of nowhere when no one is even talking about them.
-
Still no word on the $$$ ?
-
NL IPs are sometimes a skewed stat based on their dumb ass non DH rule.
-
I'll have to find out the $$$ first. Anything over $5 million, he will stick from here until the trade deadline.
-
OK even then, why would you hang out a $20 million annual contract to Ryu/Keuchel/Price if you know at some point Kopech will be a part of this rotation? Or are folks still rooting for Lopez to fail? I think the Sox will get a disposable 2nd veteran here shortly to go with Gio.
-
For the 1,001th time, HAVE THE WHITE SOX OFFICIALY SAID THIS?
-
To me, this tells me they are not going for a 2nd high end guy. Maybe another swing man, but nothing else. Giollito Lopez Kopech Cease Gonzales That will be the opening day rotation and maybe a swing guy for Kopech if he's not ready.

100%. Giollito, Kopech, and Cease need to develop into a solid 1-2-3 if we plan to contend for a WS anytime soon. -

Archer was not a terrible pitcher at the time of that trade. -

Fans shited all over the idea of Bumgarner at 4 years and now it's OK to hand that to a guy who doesn't miss bats in Keuchel? -
I just like to guard myself against every possible financial factor when it comes to cheering for this team. Even if means payroll 20 years down the line. Sadly
-
I rather those $8 million in 2020 not being the "hypothetical" reason why in 2021 they decide not to get a good a player or extend one of their core guys.
-
All these pitchers people b****ing about would become another Nova fiasco. Tired of this crap. Yes, I rather Covey and Fulmer take on the piñata treatment then pissing $8 million down the barrel of pitching junk.
