  1. Jordan Luplow this year has given me perspective on what KC fans must have felt watching Matt Davidson
  2. Seconded, he swings at everything this side of the Dan Ryan
  3. That's all well and good, but you can still have someone ready in the pen during a teaching moment.
  4. My logic against signing Keuchel: If it is a multi year deal, you are giving up the chance to sign Cole/Madbum/etc, since we already have Gio/Kopech/Lopez/Cease (I am fine giving lopez until at least Rodon gets back) If it is a single year deal, you are spending money that may be more useful this winter to chase a playoff berth that IMO opinion is still out of reach for us. Also, I doubt he wants to take a rebound contract for an AL team that has very little playoffs chance and plays in a hitter friendly park. I would still be happy if they sign him, just so I don't have to watch one of Banuelos or Covey anymore. But I don't think it is a good move.
  5. "No No No, I am absolutely sure that Cashner's option vests with 550IP this year, and Alonso's vests with 187 games played. We should be fine!"
  6. Lopez two times through the order, then bring in Covey for two times through the order. If either one doesn't have any stuff that night, bring in the other sooner.
  7. Making an offer occurs very late in the process. I'd be shocked if Hahn didn't at least inquire. Clearly the number/interest he got back wasn't intriguing.
  8. Tim the fucking Manderson
  9. Annnnnnnd I'm right back out again, thanks for clearing that up Reylo (assist to Ricky R)
  10. Now Lopez is flashing good stuff, what
  11. A couple years from now, a bench of Garcia, Tilson, Yolmer could be really good (and really versatile).
  12. first base wasn't open.
  13. Fair enough: My problem (and this is me reading into the situation) is that I only think the ump threw the pitcher out because it caught Anderson in the head. But I agree, you don't want to let it spiral out of control.
  14. 1 on, nobody out, and you think Sparkman threw a changeup at Anderson's head on the second pitch on purpose?
  15. His stuff honestly didn't look THAT amazing that day, though he had command of his fastball. Main thing was just he was playing against Detroit. FWIW Fry, Herrera, and Colome all had 2Ks in an IP each too
  16. So..... that was a BS ejection right? Clearly an accident IMO
  17. You could put the ball on a tee and Billy Hamilton wouldn't hit .300, throw him some damn strikes!
  18. He has the same problem as Fulmer: Good bullpen arms still need control.
  19. Damn. Reylo almost killed a dude.
  20. It might make us .500, but we are way more than a single SP away from catching the Twins. Even traveling back in time and stealing 2000 Pedro wouldn't get us there.
  21. McCann anecdote from Benetti and Stone tonight: when McCann came to the Sox, one of the first things he did was work with Gio on his attitude. When Gio didn't have his best stuff and threw bad pitches, he'd make faces. James told him to stop so he wouldn't let the opposing offenses know he was struggling. James may be partially responsible for the new BDE Gio. EDIT: They actually told it more as a Gio anecdote, about his attitude improvements, but I was impressed that McCann came into a new team and was contributing already.
  22. Time to see what we have in Mendick
  23. Reminds me of 2017 actually. Record wasn't good, but the players who mattered were playing well, and they were pretty competitive even in losing efforts (plus all those Rickys Boys Don't Quit comebacks and walk-offs)
  24. From the perspective of his career, absolutely From the perspective of the mental health of me, a white sox fan who knows what the rest of the rotation looks like, not so much.
