  1. 94 and 1st place by 1 game. I think Cease takes a step forward and we avoid any other catastrophic injuries. Trade activity is a +- 4 for me on this.
  2. This is the McCann luxury rubbing off on everyone. Sox had an unbelievable situation last year. There are less than 5 teams in the league that have a backup catcher that can hit AND catch well or above average. It's one or the other, and you ride with your team makeup/needs. Collins deserves this chance or you never will know.
  3. as the sacrificial lamb? I will see myself out.
  4. I do forget that last season was so short. I just hope he doesn't have the typical sophomore slump is all.
  5. Not being a meatball. He has made Good contact 2 times in 2 weeks. I really hope its boredom and wanting to work through things. I am one of his biggest fans, but he still is chasing too often and is in 0-2 counts nearly half his at bats. I know spring training means nothing, but the tendencies remain to start the season quite often. He will still be elite when he makes contact, but 47% swing rate is 3rd worst in baseball and worth watching in April. I still think he is a peak 7-8 WAR guy if everything clicks, but that is several seasons away until discipline improves. His minors numbers show adversity and then explosion though, so I would rather the struggles be now then when it matters. With Eloy out he is probably the most important bat in the lineup.
  6. Its officially worry about Robert time. He has looked awful for 2 weeks
  7. 100% this. I think Lucroy and Collins are a lock with Vaughn at LF 50% of the games. I think the question is will NIck Williams make the roster? He has played well this spring and could get LF time IF they are not comfortable with Vaughn.
  8. Why would it suck? Sox gave him another chance. If he is solid this season, they will re-sign him
  9. 2 weeks of Williams is an issue? I don't see that. He has played well this spring and you can catch lightning in a bottle as well as having Vaughn peppered in if he shows any competency. Engel will be playing in this role if they do not trade or pick up a FA.
  10. I actually really like the idea of Williams and Vaughn holding it down until engel is ready. See how collins looks at DH and move pieces as you can. This is a better option than Puig or Cespedes right now, and i really dont think Ryan Braun has anything left. The only advantage of going out and getting a full time LF is having Engel as the super outfield sub and keeping Vaughn as DH, but i just dont see that happening in 5 days.
  11. Okay, I am over the mourning stage. This is really starting to look like one of those Hollywood scripts. Vaughn comes in, becomes a star...Eloy steps in September and they ride this to the playoffs. You can't make this kind of drama and adversity up.
  12. Oof. this list... https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/outfield/available/
  13. If Engel is the plan...you are screwed. It needs to be Cespedes (the FA one), Puig, or Tauschman by EOW.
  14. absolutely brutal. and it was so avoidable. There really is zero chance of a world series without his bat. FML
  15. Same. It's also in happy butterflies with the Bulls move, so I am a mess right now.
  16. This timing would be perfect. Cespedes next season to take over for Eaton and Colas in 2 years to get bubble boy out of LF.
  17. This whole thing really complicates the vaughn plans. If he is out for more then 3-4 weeks...they basically have to start Vaughn...but there is a very good chance that Eloy can never take the field again...what then?
  18. why even go for the ball in a spring game? I just don't get it.
  19. Is this an overreaction? It honestly didnt look bad at all?
  20. probably Hamilton's last chance at making an impression. He may get the spot by default with Engel out, but he still can't hit at all. This is opening day lineup just without Eaton. I really think Moncada needs to move to the the 2 spot though. Robert is still chasing Waaaay too much and having a 300 OBP for your most crucial batting spot isn't gonna cut it.
  21. Eaton is picking it up this week. Hoping he continues the strong contact
  22. Everything I said about Moncada...fearing the opposite for Robert. He hasn't adjusted yet, and it is looking ugly.
