Agreed and it's why Bauer makes so much sense. Going year by year with him would be incredible, economical and allows Kopech, Stiever and eventually Crochet to prove they deserve to take away a spot from either Cease or Dunning.

Can you be patient for a potential world series run though? This team statistically is turning into the best of the AL, and he is clearly the biggest weakness for position players. I just don't know the alternative option at this point. Engel more? At the very least, Dyson and Engel need to be defensively out there in the 8th and beyond if they have the lead in the playoffs

yeah, that is what i really wish for. I think Gio gets the #1 spot no matter though, since he has earned it. Unless sox get DeGrom, otherwise anyone else slots at 2. I really think Kopech at 4 (in June) may make more sense though after DK. that change of pace in a series would be nuts. Going DK, Kopech, Dunning then back to Gio has a real nice variety of pitches and speed. I think long term Dunning settles in as the #4 though. 2021 - Gio, Bauer, DK, Kopech, Dunning is the ultimate goal. But Cease can slot in at either 4 or 5 for the first couple months and then if he has figured it out could potentially knock Dunning out.

Yeah and his cockiness and his wife don't help his situation. Not a guy you wanna root for when he clearly thinks he is better than his injury record shows. But who knows, maybe he gets healthy for a month run and helps Sox win an improbable world series.

those numbers look about right. Crazy to think, but the Cubs are the real wildcard in all this. I really wish Cardinals were a bit closer for division to really push them. But Cubs face both of Indians/Twins when games still matter and before they have the soft Pirates series to start aligning their rotation and rest for playoffs and the closing series with the Sox.
